Gary O'Neil

I watched the Wolves V Man. City game today but had to go out so I missed O'Neil's expected rant against the officials, VAR, God, Allah, Buddah et al, Silva made slight contact with the keeper but not enough in it to say he was in the sight of the keeper in an offside position and affected the outcome, a good goal for me, I've never liked O'Neil since we beat Bournemouth 2-0 when Ivan got the penalty by leaving his arm between the Bournemouth defenders hip and arm and made it look that he was being held, incredibly switched on thinking by the big man. After the game O'Neil bleated to anyone and everyone about the injustice of it all:);):D.

It looked offside at first but they seemed to explain why it wasn't which is all you can ask for really.

I guess the trouble is Wolves did have a goal disallowed like that last season which is why they are frustrated.

Naturally Pep thought it was the right decision.

In my view the City player backed into the keeper and then moved away but that put the Wolves keeper off balance to deal with the incoming
shot, I would not have been happy if they got away with that against us, City are full of little tricks to win games.

Just saw his post match interview on Sky. Seemed fairly balanced to me tbf.

Silva wasn't in an offside position when he made contact with the keeper, and didn't do enough to commit a foul. He then wasn't interfering when Stones made the header. Clever play and not an offside offence.

Didn’t O’Neil call it “the worst decision he had ever seen” when Wolves had a goal disallowed against West Ham for an almost identical incident?

I love seeing his team bottom, he’s the biggest whiner in football.

I use to kind of like Wolves, but that was when I went to Molineux in the late 80's and it was falling down, but you could smell the history.
I think I felt sorry for them.

Now they can just f*** right off, with their ***** of a manager, and delusional fans.

That 'little trick' is exactly what every team does at a corner, i. e. put a player on or near the keeper, that's not unique to City.

The decision could have gone either way, as there was a certain amount of interference before the question of whether the goalie’s
sight was blocked or not. The replay showed that his vision of the ball was not obstructed so the goal was allowed, but there was definitely interference before the strike itself, which must have affected the goalie’s balance and thought process,

He was still one/two feet away - and as someone once asked......if he wasn't interfering, what the hell was he doing there?

O’Neil made clear the referees act in good faith but said other factors could influence the officials.

“I can categorically tell you that they definitely don’t mean to. I just know from a human point of view, it’s tough. If I had to upset someone in a street and there was a little guy and a big guy, I’m going to upset the little guy."

Doesn't know what he's talking about, everyone knows its the little guys who are absolute nutters, you got to watch out for the small ones.....

Can't stand Wolves - entitled and deluded fans, and their management team is no better. They used to have an assistant who was part of the Welsh international set-up - he was the worst. O'Neill is just the latest in a long line.

If we are objective Wolves have sufered for some dreadful decsion last season. I guess the fire still rages understandably, so anything controversial will get disproportionate levels of reaction from him

He wasn’t interfering when the header came in. Before that yes, but he had stopped engaging with the keeper.
Nothing wrong IMO. The keeper had a full line of sight.

I think it’s brilliant. Can’t stand wolves or their knob of a manager

He's a big fan of false equivalence, he probably needs to pick his examples better.

When we got a penalty against Bournemouth when Toney clamped the guy's arm under his own and then fell over - which was a fortunate penalty - he said it was just like the "injustice" of the one we got in the playoffs against Bournemouth "and the same referee too" - despite that being completely different and much more clearly a penalty.
It was nice to know he hadn't forgotten that wonderful day anyway :D He was on Woodgate's coaching staff that season I think.

True enough. I can think of several players who would have been sent off against us if they had been playing for Southampton, Wolves, Ipswich etc but not going to happen to "big six" players. Andoni for Liverpool last season home and away, Kovacic, Gravenberch are obvious examples. I love being in the EPL, but the obvious bias is sickening. After Klopp's meltdown after their game at Spurs all the big decisions went their way.

They will probably point to the fact Arsenal had a man sent off and Liverpool a penalty ruled out as a counter argument but there is no doubt more pressure is put on the officials by bigger clubs particularly at home.

Laughable that the FA are requesting that GO'N explain his comments after their game at the weekend.

Given the structure of his statement wasn't in any way accusing the PGMOL of institutional bias towards big clubs they really have nothing to throw at him.

Rather than looking to punish, maybe they might open their minds to the problem. Everyone outside of the big clubs knows he's right.

Even the knee-jerk reaction of Howard Webb in going immediately to the FA over this is emblematic of a systemic problem.

I am not an O'Neil fan in any way, shape or form but he is correct. How many fouls did we get in the 2nd half on Saturday versus how many would have been given if the shoe was on the other foot? It is clear that the big 6/7 get more decisions in their favour than the rest of the league unless it is blatant like Salibas red at the weekend.
