I saw on the news that Gazza has been weighing up options on either playing MLS in the States or even dropping into the lower divisions. He also said that he would not play in Div 3. This may seem crazy knowing the clubs tight budget and wage policy but having Gazza at GP would put at least another 2k on the gate. Obviously he has huge wage demands, however, looked at conservatively the increase in gate receipts plus the huge impetus that having someone like him would be immense for the club. Crazy talk maybe but imagine the possibilities!

Hardly a good influence on the other players either (most of whom are probably too young to remember him in Italia 90, some of them might not even have that strong a memory of him at Euro 96!).

Caleb it is very true that he was one of the best players in the world and still has talent but the fact is hes overweight, filled with personal problems and basically a liabilty.

He would add some to the gate that I can't deny but if he had so many problems he may not motivate players to achieve in fact it is more likely he will motivate the other sides so that they can beat a side containing Gazza.

Not true. If anything he is now under weight and looking very skeleton like with deep sunken eyes. If he could prove his fitness by playing for nothing or a % of the extra gate revenue then maybe he would be worth a try, but I doubt it very much that we would be interested. Colchester have made an interest known probably to increase a few season ticket sales, knowing they won't sign him.

why don't people look at facts before sounding off.gazza is very lean at the moment and looks very fit.he played well in quite a few everton games last season.he is worth a loan deal with any nationwide club before he goes to the states next year

Anybody remember a lazy, boozy, gambler who kept diving in the box. Stan Bowles became a true GP legend for 2 seasons. Initially added 2-3,000 to the gate for a couple of months - some of whom have stayed ever since.

Don't know what he did to the clubs balance books, but he did a lot for morale and profile and even called the fire brigade when the Braemar Road stand burnt down.

Also worth remebering with a legend that you have the possibility of geeting local industry (Fullers Brewery perhaps?) to pay the wages.

No doubt they are basing it on extra revenue through the gate and giving most of it to him. 2,000 extra at say £8 per time = £16k give £10k to him and you are still £6k better off.

Check your maths.

16k per game @ 23 league games and say 3 cup games with a 50% revenue split gives £392k as the extra revenue. If you are paying £10k per week you've just upped our weekly debt by 2 and a half grand. That's also assuming that they play most of the home games, if we sign another Paul Davis (useless momeygrabbing to$$er) or Scott Marshall (injured all the time, sadly) then it becomes a very expensive exercise.

From what I have seen from Gazza he is not overweight. His injuries have been the main reason why he is not fit. IMO he is one of the most talented players I have seen. In div 2/3 he would control a game with his passing ability and awareness.

Being realistic, Gazza at Brentford aint gonna happen, nor is the likes of Adams (Donkey) or Wise. But yeah all 3 would be great even if it were for a season. Sinton is another good choice but then I would try and get a loan deal for the likes of Dean Holdsworth, Rod Wallace etc
