Surprised there is nothing on here about MA letting GT go. Am I the only one who feels a bit uncomfortable about this?

I've got no problem with MA choosing his own backroom staff as they often tend to follow particular managers around as a team anyway. But youth development is a more lont term appointment. If MA is successful at BFC, and especially if he gets us promoted, then we will be lucky if we keep him for two years. So I think it's unlikely that MA will ever really benefit from the work of whoever he brings in.

I think if I was GT I would be very aggrieved. If he has been as good as MA and BFC say he has then why get rid of him?

My understanding is that Scott Fitzgerald has become youth coach. If that is the case, then I would imagine Taylor leaving comes down to budget. Harsh fact of life that a 36 year old player coach is cheaper than a 60 year old one.

I read in the Sun that Geoff was 71,
even so he's done a good job here and I wish him well.

At 71 was Geoff Taylor likely to be long term on our youth set up and would it not be better to get a younger man now? I accept he has done a great job, but maybe MA would like his own thoughts at grass roots rather than those of old regimes? Alex Ferguson completly overhauled the youth set up at Man Utd and look what came of that.

A Quiet man was suggesting he had become the new youth team manager, if he wasn't then apologies. At present Scott is helping the Centre of Excellence programme on Sunday mornings.

Barry Quin is helping the scholars at present.

He said: "I was shocked when Martin Allen informed me on Monday that he was letting me go. I am now waiting for a letter stating the reasons and explaining what sort of pay-off I can expect. The timing of this seems very strange. The fact that my youth team has produced three first team regulars in Jay Tabb, Kevin O'Connor and Michael Dobson, plus several fringe players, speaks for itself."

Allen told me: "I felt it was the right time for a change with the youth system and we will be advertising the position. But John Griffin will work more closely with me in the future. He will no longer be spending so much time on the road. My coach Adrian Whitbread and I will assess other teams, leaving John to look at specific players and make recommendations to me.

"He will also spend more time watching our games to give him a better picture of what we've got and what we need."

Asked if signing Lawrence had meant breaking the budget, Allen said: "I don't know. maybe Geoff has been let go to raise funds for the impending delivery of new trench coats for the LR project team ?

any one see the prog the other night, filmed in OUR board room ? I cant remember exactly what it was called , some thing along the lines of " I have no skills associated with the position required but I agree to accept huge pay rises and do sweet fa, get me in there " .Its a trailer to a programme the tv company ran recently when the viewers voted to remove their chosen person.In this new version ,once they get chosen theres Fck all you can do to remove them .I think the programme makers are called Thru and Thru or similar ?

Looks like BFC acted in time, w.e.f. 1st October, new laws came in to play giving new rights and responsibilities similar to redundancy laws.

But did they act correctly though for once on such matters unlike previous dismissals where payouts were the order of the day e.g. Forzoni and some would suggest unnecessary pay-outs to Polly Kates and Gary Hargraves ?
