George O'Callaghan

George O'Callaghan

...........and scores with both feet.........

George O'Callaghan

Is he a forward, because we are very limited in that area, I was hoping NF would have solve that problem by now, but it doesn't look great at the moment, is it against club procedures to sign a forward that is an out and out forward, not somebody that can play in 3 different role's. It cost us against MK Dons and I'm scare it will crop up again very soon.

George O'Callaghan

8 clubs in 8 years...

George O'Callaghan

Would be be risky signing in my eyes. Have seen him on numerous occasion playing in the league of Ireland. He undoubtabley has talent but his head is often elsewhere. He walked out of Dundalk after just 4 months and has been with alot of clubs between the UK and Ireland ! Besides the fact hes 31 he wouldnt be one for the future but could maybe do a job for a period.

George O'Callaghan

Interesting reading the Youtube comments. Yeovil, Tranmere, didn't work out. Lots of Cork fans seem to think he's a bit of a tubthumper. Seems a bit mental. He'll do for me .

Sounds like a clever trick but must be a bit of problem getting on to the end of high crosses.

 Jesus is the only one I know of that could do that .

Very accurate summary there Dublin Bee. He would be classed as a playmaking central midfield player for those not familiar with his work.

Unlike a lot of the the French 100 years ago, he kept his head under pressure ? Big J was rubbish at juggling with marbles though .
True. And wimps were always safe on the beach :D.

Touche Bigbee.... also the fact GP has a pub on all four corners & bookies nearby could be a problem...

George O'Callaghan

If George can stay long enough to score the winner at Wembley I'd settle for that

:imwith:

What is a tubthumper please? Is it like a show pony?

George O'Callaghan

He gets knocked down, but gets up again.

Give the guy a break !
and
Give the club a break !

A point away at MK Dons was a good result.
We have outscored the opposition in 2 of Nicky's 3 games.

George O'Callaghan

Wouldn't read too much into this, he may be seen as a short term cover option and allow him to get fit before he returns the Irish Leagues who have a diffrent season period to us.
He's actually a talented footballer although a little impetuous. He would know Alan Bennett well from his early Cork City days.

Do the rules allow you to sign a player for one week a month?

Yes that's right Sultan. Many Cork fans think that Brendan O'Reilly (or whatever his name is - I can't be bothered scrolling to the top of the thread), gets knocked down, but then gets up again . Good examples of tubthumpers are Georgie Best, Paul Gascoigne, Robin Friday, Wayne Rooney and Bob Booker .

that's what makes many bees' fans tick.

ps tubthumper > chumbawamba. truly great live band b4 they went acoustic-folkie. played loads of gigs for me in my britpop promotional days and i named my feisty jack(ie) russell after them.

George O'Callaghan

maybe he is just training with us to get himself fit

Out and out forwards are always in demand and with seven subs now, clubs are reluctant to let forwards go out on loan when they can have at least two sat on the bench. George to me seems a worthy gamble to to assess; a free agent with pedigree. There are diamonds in the rough and NF obviously saw something from him in training at Brighton to take a look at him.

nicky forster's PAL from b&ha?

One of his goals might help put us in the lead.

George O'Callaghan

We've not even signed him yet and people want to hound Forster

George O'Callaghan

Welcome to the club Kevin !

:moo:

George O'Callaghan

imo george is a gifted footballer having watched him for a number of seasons at cork city, hes grand when things are going his way but once their not he throws his toys out of the pram
if things arent working for him george will walk like hes done twice at cork.too many problems off the pitch and is known to cause dressing room unrest.

George O'Callaghan

I hope we don't sign him. Hardly forward thinking. From what Forster's said in his interviews, I think he's just letting a mate train with the rest of the squad and that's it.
