I know we have a small squad, but not too upset about this. Charles or Osbourne are better in defence, and anyone else is better up front

Georges Santos

so leroy obviously wanted him then, but sounds like santos wanted more dosh.

Georges Santos

Good news.

Sounds like Santos was being a greedy bastard.

Leroy will have to be a busy boy this week though!

Georges Santos

havn't seen him for years so cannot comment.

we need urgently a decent striker on loan 'til lloyd is back. i realise that will make us top heavy with forwards but what must be must be.

shame that no obvious offers, trials or interest in willock or fitz jnr as they sat on the bench on saturday..... anyone think that, just possibly, willock is worth a run if we cannot bring anyone in????

Indeed, I would like a centre-back and central midfielder for starters and maybe a target man but that isn't that important at the present moment.

 Utility player at best.

Agree completely - he was certainly nowhere near good enough to be our target man until Lloydie's return. The worrying thing is that Leroy seems to think he would have fit the bill (despite hauling him off after 53 minutes on Saturday)...

Thank God he's off.

And if he isn't willing to fit into our wage structure

Quite but I would have thought that the wage structure and contract length would have been discussed with him before we wasted a slot in several friendlies getting him fit.

"We want to have a good look at you George but if it does result in us making you an offer then the best that we can do is a one year contract £800pw £200 appearance fee (including non-playing sub) blah blah.......so if that's not within your current thinking then there's no point in trundling on and wasting each others time........."

No forget it.......it's just me........

It does seem strange, however maybe he knew what was likley on offer and has since been offered something eksewhere, but would prefer to stay in London. So told Leroy what other deal he has been offered in the hope that we could match it, which we couldn't, so he's decided to to take a better offer on the table.

abee, you know it's not you:nono:

As usual you make the most valid point - the question is, did the board give Leroy any financial 'scope' to sign Santos or was Leroy naive in not addressing the contract 'issues' before he started playing him in the friendlies.

All in all, a waste of time on both fronts but nothing unusual there:banghead:

I'm personally pleased we have not signed him:sorted:

Georges Santos

I want to believe that Leroy came to his senses and decided that he wasn't worth it, and this is all a gentle let-down for a respected older pro.

Georges Santos

sounds like we've had a lucky escape according to a few QPR fans I've spoken to. :)

Georges Santos

Thank god for that.

Also very refreshing that Leroy isn't prepared to risk loads of wages on over the hill journey men.

Georges Santos

He never looked like he had a season in him. I'm glad it's addios Santos.

Georges Santos

What a big shame...

Georges Santos

Glad to hear this news. No former QPR needed at Brentford.:sorted:

Make that the last three managers.

Downes never played for QPR, although he does support them.
Whereas Leroy & allen played for them but do not support them.

We need to get out of the QPR player should not play for us mind set, but remember Stan Bowles. :sorted:

garry thompson was the 3rd manager !!! for 1 game at least.................so our last 3 managers played for QPR. Statement correct !!

Georges Santos

Of course that's what I meant. :sneakoff:

Santos was a CB, but we didn't play him there.
Never mind,Bye.:)

That could be a problem given 2 players for us last night are QPR ...

Does it really matter if they've played for QPR? As long as if they do play for the Bees they give 100%.

The club decided not to sign Santos. On friday at training he studded an American trialist on purpose after he took the ball of Santos and he just walked away like nothing happened while the guy was taken to hospital (i wasnt there but apparently there was 30 or 40 people who saw it happen and his agent was there and went mental at Santos after). Although i dont know for sure a few people have said this and the fact he hasnt impressed was the reason behind the decision.
