Gerry Cakebread RIP

Gerry was a man who held down a full time job and had time to play over 300 games for us.I remember him well from my early days standing on Brook Road.He was a good goalie and I'm sure he scored from his own penalty box in one game.
Becky. That was a lovely photo of your Dad,he still maintained his film star looks.
What would he be worth today?
RIP Gerry and condolences to Becky and family.

Gerry Cakebread RIP

It's heart-warming at this difficult time to read all these kind words about my Dad. I will miss him terribly as he was at least as great a father and grandfather as he was a goalkeeper. You won't be surprised to learn that he didn't depart without a fight...
A special thank-you to "wanderer paul" for that lovely photo of Dad - it's cheered me up for a while...

Really fantastic photo of your dad Becky, his name will always be associated with the great BFC and Griffin Park. We will always remember him.

My first impact player

I saw Gerry many, many times. I was one of those obnoxious kids harrassing the players for autographs and Gerry was always happy to oblige. As has been said a true Gent and someone that some of these prima donna athletes could learn from today. God bless Gerry RIP
