So how would you sort out our main problem for the last two years of not scoring enough goals.

with Connell doubtful for Saturday, we have Ide as the only striker at the club (Peters is not a striker, he is a winger).

When Thorpe is available I would like to play he and Ide up front as just 1 up top is very difficult, however as Butcher likes a full midfield and bearing in mind we are soon to lose our left back is there any mileage in playing 3 centre backs Mackie, Kev and Osbourne or Pettigrew ( depending on Chelsea) with Sarosta and Tillen as attacking defenders Moore and Pead as attacking midfielders and Mousinio as the defending midfielder.

Whilst I know that Tillen has many detractors and in a back 4 I would not want to see him as a left back, he did show last night a willingness to track back and if we can harnass the ability that he does have this may give a better balance to the team.

Alternativley we do as suggested before and something I am sure the management have not considered in loaning a forward who is guranteed to score 20 plus goals!!!!!!

I you can find a forward who is guaranteed to score 20+ goals, I'll pay his ****ing wages

see the exclamation marks was being ironic as i have absolutely no doubt the management are desperate for a striker

Goalscorers

By my reckoning, only 12 strikers have scored 20 league goals in a season for us in the 40 odd years I've been watching - starting with the immortal John O'Mara, through Sweeetzer, Steve Phillips, Andy Mac, Francis Joseph, Robbie Cooke, Deano (twice :love2:), Bliss, both of the FT partnership, Carl Asaba, and most recently Lloydie (also twice :owusu:).

If anyone in the last 10 years deserves to reach that mark it's Clayton. Come on son, two more on Saturday and then a well-earned summer holiday...

I've only seen Forster/Taylor, Asaba and Lloyd of that list, SH, but think that Donaldson's achievement, even if he doesn't hit 20 league goals is possibly greater given the all round contribution he makes all over the pitch. Although, IIRC, Taylor did manage the feat in a team that got relegated, which shows how good a striker he was.

Did Ben Burgess score 20, not including the own goal in the play off final?

17... not including the nightmare in Cardiff

Couldn't agree more. He's hardly missed a game in all competitions and worked his socks off in each and every one. Fantastic effort.
