Golf: US Open 2015

Great round by Monty. T8 at the moment after qualifying by winning the Senior US Open.

No idea what those greens are made of though. Can't see any grass on them. Don't know what they don't go the whole hog and make them of glass  It's not all about putting you know USPGA :nono:

What a fantastic shot from Dustin Johnson from the rough in the edge of the bunker, real imagination

Brilliant wasnt it. He hit a titliest 4 into the rough, and a Bridgestone 3 onto the green. How did he do that ?

Even in days gone by, when I was a fairly useful 12 handiicap golfer, I honestly don't think I could handle this course.

If he did then he has broken the rules unless the ball was damaged when it went into the rough. Standard golf allows to change a ball for every hole if you wish but not after you have played the first shot at that hole.

Tournament golf plays one ball rule which means unless lost or damaged you play with the ball you teed off with on hole one

If he changed balls as you indicate it is at best a 2 shot penalty but could be worse

I didn't hear anyone comment on Sky but if you are aware of it being discussed then I would expect a penalty to be coming his way. I would however be very surprised if your suggestion is correct

That grouping of Woods/Ricky Fowler/Oostenhuizen managed a score in their 18 holes together of 28 over par!!

Wowzers.

What an amazing course. Can't work out if it is designed to test them to their limit or it is just a farce.

Taken ill with vertigo of all things and staggering around in a bunker on the 18th

Is there a chapter on when you hit your 5th shot to within inches of the hole and your opponent gives you it so you mark 5 on your scorecard?

Have laid the top 4 in the betting as it looks a pig of a course, back ed a few on the fringe as odds tempting. Got Rory @ 70/1.
Also laid everyone in top betting at 1.5 as I'm sure there will be a few twists and turns, but why is it so late ?
All us pga's usually finish around 11pm -12am, leaders only just teeing off ?
Will have to record it and watch it in the morning.

Its because its on the West Coast, therefore PST which is 8 hours behind, rather than the more usual EST which is only -5

Haven't been folowing this that closely, but just checked and there is still half a dozen or so that are still with a chance of wining this.

Jordan Spieth really does come across as decent young man. Good luck to him at St Andrews next month.

Golf: US Open 2015

They all took their turn at choking and trying to throw it away. Grace hits it out of bounds on the 16th and double bogeys whilst Spieth birdies it to go 3 clear. Then Spieth mucks up 17th double bogeying it and Johnson sinks a birdie to draw level. Then Johnson 3 putts on the last to hand it back to Spieth. Crazy crap golf to make it a really exciting finish. One helluva course though.
