I quite often have a bet on the P.G.A.tour, so I check the scores on their home pages regularly.
They have a lovely young lady who presents an update or preview programme named Amanda Balionis.I urge all you young and not so young men to Google image this girl.I have been trying to put a link or a photo on here with no success.

Calling all GPG golfers. I'm in the market for a new putter. Tried out a Fisher putter at American Golf which felt quite nice as it's weighty. As anyone tried/got a Fisher putter? Can anyone recommend a putter?

Yep, get a Scotty Cameron putter, but buy off ebay not a golf club or outlet.

Bumping an old thread as im fairly new on the golf scene. Any golfers on here still? Whats your handicap? Whats the favourite course youve played?

I saw some brentford players down at sunbury recently, not sure if they were playing or just doing an event of some kind. Im sure they get paid enough to stay away from the sunbury riff raff

Certainly that course at Sunbury would be near the bottom of my list, just never enjoyed it there

I play.
Or try to.
Used to play every day at Brent Valley when i should have been at school many years ago, now frequent Dibden golf centre down here

Really? I think for a cheap public course its quite nice, especially for newer players like myself its fairly straight forward

My favourite so far is probably sutton green even though it had my pants down

Odd but the grass always seemed to be mown to make the holes to play longer than they were

Still play over here. Got back into as a mate has membership down Hurtmore (very nice)

best round in ages this morning sit 91.

not an amazing golfer but can get round. It’s an expensive and time consuming hobby that replaces footy for me in the summer.

we play

Hurtmore
Pine Ridge
Silvermere
Hoebridge
Wyke green
Sunbury
Air Links

the top 4 courses are the best that we play in the area. Pine ridge is a lovely public course but busy and they’ve put their prices up.

I mean to play Weybrook park near me but not got around to it.

can’t justify membership, could do with new clubs and some lessons. It’s a bloody frustrating sport but hitting a lovely shot is a top feeling.

Golf

Member at Littlehampton. It’s a links course. I think I’ve played 2 or 3 times when there has been no wind.
it’s in great condition but I just never get the time to play enough. As said above you just need so much time to play properly.
maybe when I retire

Golf

Member at Temple, Henley/Maidenhead way. Decent track, tricky test as very up and down.

Played a charity day at Coombe Hill two weeks ago, ouch, the greens were like putting on concrete, lightning quick. Beautiful course but still having nightmares about my 3 and 4 putting....

I have played them all except Hurtmore, though was a member at Hoebridge for a while. 22 was my best Handicap mark

Golf

Hoebridge is nice, however again expensive and 17-18 are crap holes to finish a decent course with.

Compare that with Silvermere where 17-18 are awesome.
Bloody exhausting with all the hills. Silvermere is on my to-do list, aswell as pyrford lakes

Pryford is all water so bring plenty of balls. Nice course but you have to be straight or you'll get punished. Silvermere very nice too but slightly easier

I lived Hoebridge but that bloody 17th (?) Where you had to drive 220 to be able to hit the green which was through a gap i the trees at a right angle often caught me out.

Recently got into golf, anyone know any good courses for beginners.

Been playing on the short mainly par 3 courses at Lavender Park and Wycombe Heights so far.

Birds Hill, just the other side of Maidenhead is a good beginners track. Generally quite flat track and open.

Golf

Been in a golf society, 20 years, we average between 12-15 players each event, handicaps range from 2 to total beginners and up to 36.
We play 5-6 really good courses every year, Surrey, Hampshire, Kent and Sussex courses, if any one is new to golf or fancies the odd round and being a Bee helps, drop us a message if you are interested as we are looking to keep numbers up for rest of year and next year.

Uxbridge, only 12 holes but £10-50 weekdays so a bargain. Pretty good condition at the moment.
Off there now, only £9-50 before 10am for oldies?

Have heard this but did hear it was not in a good condition, so if that has improved. I'll check it out, thanks.

I used to play at Brent Valley when I first started many many years ago. Fit for purpose.
Not seen or heard of it for years so I’m not sure if it’s still going.
A good 9 hole course is Abbey moor near Byfleet.
A good 18 hole pay and play is Pine Ridge.

Played abbeymoor last week, unfortunately its quite expensive compared to other options close by and not in the best condition, especially if theres been abit of rain. Good for beginners/not so good golfers though and definitely has abit of charachter

I walk my dog in Flackwell Heath golf course most weeks and it looks in pretty good nick (the course)

I worked at West Byfleet early 1990s and we went there for 9 holes after work and a couple of pints. A good evening for all.

Golf

Anyone tried the 9 of Hearts in Ricki? As the name suggests it is only 9 holes. I got a set of clubs for my retirement present from work. 10 years unused!

Played Abbey Moor a few months ago.................... Wouldn't go back. Pricey for what it is and was in poor condition.

Far better 9 holes around.

I believe Pine Ridge is nearly £50 on a weekend now.

Brent Valley is one i would recommend for beginners. Not too long. Open fairways with no out of bounds so quite forgiving.

And its got enough variety to keep it interesting. Plus if you're lucky enough i believe Walley Downes and a group of mates used to play there.

Wyke Green is very nice but prob not for new starters.

Golf has gone up a hell of a lot since Covid. After covid people wanted to get out and play and the Clubs took advantage. The clubs still hold all the cards.

Golf

They’ve also changed, this year, from having to book online to just turn up & pay.
There’s also a Bees sticker on the entrance sign, so someone else has been!
Yeah, makes it very busy. They do the same at Lavender Park and often a big queue on the first hole because of this.

Plenty of Bees around Wycombe area now...:sorted:
