Goodbye Lindleys!

Goodbye Lindleys!

Hope they took the spotty chavs with them!

Goodbye Lindleys!

Sounds good to me. Hopefully an improved selection so us fatties can really dine out.

Goodbye Lindleys!

Might actually have something to eat @ the ground for a change this season :)

Goodbye Lindleys!

Will the prices be cheaper or will the hot chocolate be nicer.

Goodbye Lindleys!

Good work by one of our "investor" directors I understand :sorted:

That depends. As I've said in the news story now on here, Jackie and Graham will still be part of catering operations at Griffin Park.

Jackie's sister Jill was in charge of matchday catering for Lindley's also, so if she transfers over to the new company as well, you will get the same food.

And that also means the burgers still will be cooked on Friday afternoon and then re-heated the next day before the ground opens. FACT.

It's true. Turn up at the ground on a Friday afternoon before a matchday and you will see it. Perhaps one for the new catering company to answer on Monday?

I'm no health and safety expert but that sounds almost illegal.

I'm far too cheap to actually buy one of the burgers (£2.50! I'm not made of money) but concerned about the well-being of richer and more extravagant fatties. :(

Well, I assume this new company will expect higher standards of their employees than Lindley's did and I am prepared to give it a another go, so you will see my face tucking into a cheese burger on August 5.

I will report back then. I urge others to do the same as we need the cash.

Did the figures not add up for doing it inhouse and thus keeping the profits?

Did that also apply to the burger vans that were contracted in and sat in the forecourt? Their food always looked a bit better...

What chance we keep the chavs to serve the new improved range? If we wanna keep costs down or make a bigger profit it might be the only option. :fishing:

If this is fact, it is possible to get Hounslow Council's Health Officer's to check on the documentation and procedures in place for the preparation, cooking and sale of food.

We are losing enough supporters as it is

If I find out it's happening this coming season under new management, then it will be time to get involved. Let's wait and see.

I imagine their continued involvement might have something to do with the automatic transfer of employees when a business transfers as per TUPE (Transfer of Undertakings Protection of Employment or something - with brand spanking new regulations in this year too).

I think you would be surprised what is cooked and re-heated in many top eateries.

BTW have you never eaten a ready made meal, are you not just re-heating a cooked dish? These dishes in supermarkets include these days burgers and sausages. Horrible I assume (haven't tried one) but all the same its exactly the same principle and one of the reasons we have lazy fat kids as their parents dish them up this sh*te.

TUPE is not brand new but you are stuck with the staff over the transfer period

The principle is fine, the issue is whether the caterer's are following correct procedures.

Goodbye Lindleys!

I was appalled intially when I read about the re-heated burgers .After a while I thought of doner kebabs and how we ( well some )would die for a delicious meaty mouthfull with even more healthy salad at midnight after 29 pints. That lump of " meat " is re-heated daily until gone ,then some of it kept warm in those stainless steel containers.Burger King pre-cook their burgers then reheat them ( albeit the same day ) in a microwave .

I dont understand caterers at footie grounds .They go for maximum profit and deliver sh ite food that they are remembered for .For a few pence more they could buy quality burgers etc and be remembered for the right reasons .Theres a huge marketing opportunity for some one like Puka Pies to extend to Puka Burgers ,Pukka hot dogs etc.Where the clubs bought in the necessary bits from Pukka and supporters were assured of getting a decent bit of food with a brand they trusted.

Goodbye Lindleys!

Tend to agree with you there, Bigbee. If I'm going to pay £2.50 for a burger, I'd like it to be better than a McDonald's. I'd rather pay £3 or even £3.50 for a quality burger than £2.50 for a burger that should cost 50p.

Goodbye Lindleys!

can someone ask on monday if theyre going to start selling chips? maybe pizza slices would be good as well

I know what you mean, but the standard of burgers ( on the occasions I have them ,Im not Banana ) is FAR worse than MacD's for around the same money I think ,tomato and salad at GP ? Get real ;)

Goodbye Lindleys!

This isn't all its cracked up to be then if Graham and Jackie are still to run Stripes?

Don't mind Jackie but he is a miserable bastard and one reason why my missus won't attend the Friday night Gigs at the Club which is a shame..

We'll never make anything whilst they are at the place unless Brentford have put in a nice royalty with the new company..

Was it Stripes rip offs or doing a greengrocers stall or Farnboro' car boot that bought Graham his nice shiny car??;)

Goodbye Lindleys!

Its a much better deal for BFC as these new chaps are desperate to break into football big time and take Lindleys business away.

Is it finished though ;)

How may times have you seen slackers shaken up by new management? As a previous poster said, employment law probably prevents them from being moved but I hope that it is made clear that there is an expected way of working that they need to adhere to.

Goodbye Lindleys!

Not happy about this at all.. Why are we getting old Forest cast-offs on their way down when we should be bringing in young, hungry, up and coming caterers from non-league??? And on such a long contract an' all.. We're doomed I tell you.. doomed.. DOOMED!!!

Having spoken to aforementioned director, apparently not. :(

Goodbye Lindleys!

I have never understood catering at football clubs. They always go for the same crap options. Along side the burgers I would have a massive pot of basic curry's (it would have to be good quality).

I would serve a tub of this with a chuck of nan bread. I would reckon this to cost about a £1 a potion tops and then sell it for £3/£3.50. Easier to serve and it would go like mad.

Goodbye Lindleys!

I don't know if anyone remembers the infamous '10 people only' focus group that happened about 18 months ago but in that I asked why the catering couldn't include simpler things like a cheese roll, for example? (I couldn't decide if that was more important to me than the lock on the door of the ladies loo being fixed so I argued for both with equal vehemence. The lock was fixed. Roy King took great delight in getting a message to me that the cheese rolls were now available in New Road so I asked for one and was met with blank looks and then was offered a freshly made one. I got a hot dog roll with some of that cheese slice crap they put on burgers. Mind you, I was asked if I wanted onions with it, so the staff were trying).

It doesn't have to be complicated food to taste good. It needs to be fresh, edible, portable and reasonably priced. As long as the catering stays at the standard of Lindley's, they'll be lucky to get £5 a season out of me and that will be for their appalling tea and coffee when I am desperate.

Apparently, pizza slices need a pizza oven to be fitted so it's more expense incurred but I agree that they would be a great thing to offer and I am sure would be very popular. As would maybe jacket potatoes (need an oven), chilli with rice, bagels with different fillings (a la White Hart Lane).
