Off at a tangent maybe, but what's the point of having a Brentford fan elected as a councillor if this is the state the club finds its self in? Surely Luke has something to communicate to his constituents?

Well the plans were in the programme today, it sounds like the club are holding out an olive branch to the residents, and if they go through things should be good. I don't think we will sell boxes on matchdays on New Road, because of the posts (though they are looking to cut the amount from 14 to 7 I think). If we can use them for community facilities (read easy government money) and have things like club nights, a decent restaurant and club shop we could make some serious dough.

planing application has to be lodged before submitting funding application to football foundation, so the consultation process will really now begun in earnest and hopefully not result in the local ressies writing tear jerking letters to the chronny. although having seen the drawings 1st hand I dont think the ealing rd lot have much hope as there is no loss of light, as for the other redevelopments new rd and wendy house these dont affect our neighbours and have actually been designed to have minimal impact on them.

Matt the Ealing Road resident here again.
At present we are waiting for the club to arrange the next stage of consultation meetings. This is something they promised to do following our previous meeting at the end of March.
It's nearly a year now since these plans were first mooted, yet we are still to see fully detailed designs. The plans submitted in Feb were deemed by planning officers to be lacking in certain detailed aspects, which has set the process back further. It's also fair to point out that there have been staffing difficulties at the Civic Centre.
Our intention was always to work with the Club to come up with a solution agreeable to all parties - the last thing we want to be doing is spending our evenings reading about planning law.
I hope the meetings happen soon, and I'll keep the GPG up to date with what happens. In the meantime, I'm happy to answer any questions if it can help the process.

Matt - Why don`t you arrange the date of the next meeting in AOB?
Did any of the residents not like the picture or was it a case of the picture didn`t detail the actual height?
Do the residents understand the financial plight of BFC? ie: We know the vast majority want BFC to stay at GP, but to do that we need to redevelop and if we don`t redevelop, they may find housing built on GP with a 50% affordable split.
Do you think the club acts professionally?
Is LBH as bad as everybody thinks when it comes to admin?

We didn't arrange a meeting in AOB for two reasons. Firstly, we didn't know when the new info that we needed would be ready. Secondly, and most importantly, the club offered to arrange the meets, and we're quite happy to let them take over making the arrangements.
We all understand the financial difficulties. It's why we played a lead role in getting outline planning permission on GP when it would have been easy to dig our heels in over Noades' unsuitable pans and leave GP with no planning permission at all.
It's about consultation. I think it should be possible to find some common ground where residents concede some, the club concedes some and things move on. Instead, we are still finding that our first view of plans is when they go on display, which tends to hold the whole procedure up as we go into drawn-out consultation.
It was more than not liking the drawings. There were considerable differences between earlier drawings of the stand and lounge and what was shown last month. As I understand it, some scale drawings didn't add up, and detailed sunlight and traffic reports were absent. So it's not possible to make judgements on loss of light. Remember, it was planning officers that decided this, not residents.
Yes, the club is better run than before, though I still feel that there is a lot of suspicion from some individuals. Talk to us, do a monthly newsletter, invite people round for drinks before a game, whatever it takes to get people onside. We get nice letters from the Broncos about fixture changes, offers of tickets etc. The club have started doing this so hopefully the improvement will continue.
The planning officers at Hounslow are good people, but their resources are stretched very tightly. Losing the planning officer assigned to GP was unfortunate, he left the council after about a week to work for a mate of his.
The club's target now must be to make sure that everything necessary has been done to get the plans before the Area Committee in June

So the GPRA are on the whole alright with the plans as they are now?
If only. Who is suspicious? Honestly you're the local residents it's not like you hate us, none of you failed to notice the football ground when buying your flats/houses. I'm sure an informal get-together could be arranged.
It's interesting the Broncos are more proactive, maybe we should merge a la QPR and get their PR people?

The Broncos are very good with PR, they have even offered free tickets to residents in the past.
I think all the residents want is good communication and consultation from the Club. I've always found them a good neighbour, but the lack of consultation on the recent plans was a great shame. At one of the first meetings about a prospective move from Griffin Park (held at Brentford School for Girls) resident after resident stood up and said what great neighbours the Club were and how they wanted them to stay. It would be a great shame if this good feeling was lost over something that could so easily be put right.

What is the point? If I was running the show I would have been giving the GPRA free meeting space in the club for years (with the bar open of course!), and attending every meeting with news to ensure their support.
