There will be a year's free subscription to the first person to put on this thread the 2 new signings that we definitely have but that are being announced tomorrow. There must be no speculation, so you have to wait until officially unveiled by the club. Now let's see who has the fastest SMS service lol

Mark, so is the delay so that you can earn the club more money. Otherwise you would announce it today?

So why can't it be announced today. What step hasn't been taken that will be tomorrow? (e.g. medical, signature, registration etc.)

I'm just wondering what enables the club to "pre announce" it rather than "announce" it.

Markbfc, what seems to have happened is, as North London Bee observed some time ago, that the club policy has changed silently from "confirmation not speculation" to activly encouraging speculation with stories like today. Todays "story" is also in complete antipodes with what Martin Allen said at the Fans' Forum.

I don't find "trying to earn the Club some much needed money" distasteful. What I find completely frustrating is the club not being frank with this typr of announcement. If it said "hey we've signed some players and those that have paid for the SMS delivery will find out 2 hours before anyone else" then you may find the GPG would play along. But what enables the club to pre-announce this - do they KNOW that it cannot fall apart - in which case why not announce it. All I'm saying is you cannot expect the rank and file to "play ball" if we don't understand the reasons behind it. Will the SMS subscribers get the news before PA and Reuters? If so or if not what is the policy? It seems the the Evening Standard had the news on Somner before the official site. If so how?

So to distill, what are the SMS paying for? How many hours advance do they have before the Press Release goes out? This isn't a rant, at the end of the day the GPG is a news organisation too, but those who pay the SMS schilling should know what they are paying for.
