Rotund, balding ref with mutton-chop sideburns who always looked knackered after about 10 minutes.

You need to be of a certain age to remember him, but he always semed to manage to keep the game flowing, impeccably fair and wasn't whistle happy or desirous of being the centre of attention. Players liked and respected him, so did the fans.

He used to do a strange knees up high run to the centre circle before kick-off and would often shake his head in disbelief when a player missed a 'sitter'.

Remember him well....pity we do not have characters like that around these days...unfortunately today's refs are scrutinised for every little thing they do..
I remember seeing the assessor writing pages after the game that Danson did at GP towards the back end of last season....thankfully Danson's farewell appearance !!! :sorted: :sorted:
