Greg Dyke

Not read it but has he sold out already?

Greg Dyke

wants it played elsewhere or in winter - yeah that will work!

Greg Dyke

Don't think he is saying he wants it moved, more the obvious that you can't hold a world cup in temps of up to 50 degrees,

Greg Dyke

he says it's not possible for the fans even if the grounds are air conditioned.I doubt when the final decision is made fifa will care about the fans

Greg Dyke

On Five Live to talk about this just after 8am.

Greg Dyke

Why would you not read it before posting? Anyway, he's on BBC Breakfast soon...

Greg Dyke

Agree, think the sponsors will have more say in the decision. Can see Coke, Budweiser etc thinking it's a great idea for fans to endure "thirst inducing" weather

Greg Dyke

OK, he's been on. New Football League chairman makes sensible comment after sampling temperature in Qatar in summer... not really a snappy headline.

Greg Dyke

Budweiser won't be too fussed, Qatar is a dry state with alcohol allowed only within hotels etc

Well done Greg for speaking out ! :sorted:

:imwith: Seemed an eminently sensible opinion to me.

Greg Dyke

From what I have read so far on this, I think Greg is right. It is daft to play a World Cup tournament in heat that will be dangerous and unbearable for fans , officials and players. And that lot should come first!
It seems that Greg's predecessors made an unwise decision, and he at least has the courage to deal with this head on...

Greg Dyke

carry on with the season, that's what clubs have big squads for and they do have 9 yrs to plan

Greg Dyke

Greg Dyke

Dyke is absolutely right-if we had a fighting chance with a decent squad we'd be devastated if asked to play all our games in 110 degrees.
OK, we're pants and we'd struggle to win games even if was played in England but the fact is Qatar should, never have been selected to host the World cup.

Greg Dyke

I agree, treat the World Cup like we do the Africa nations (if we qualify) squads will be used to the max and the managers will have to manage with what they have left.

I was thinking it'd potentially give sides like Brentford the limelight during the competition if they shut the top two divisions down for a month. But then I realised we'd be an established Premier League club by then :)

Greg Dyke

Qatar is nonsensical

When I went to Japan I realised that England could never have won there in the summer given the humidity. Half the time it is an effort to walk 400 metres without drinking a litre of Pocari Sweat / Calpis (two of Japan's favorite soft drinks by the way)

Greg Dyke

The whole 2018\2022 world cup selection process was a farce and highly dubious in terms of being a fair competition. FIFA deserve all the abuse and hassle they are in for. If they try changing 2022 to winter the other applicants will rightly hit them with every legal challenge they can.

Greg Dyke

To summarise, what he wanted to say was what Chris Waddle says after every tournament exit :sorted:

Greg Dyke

Rousing speech by Mr Dyke.

Wants change wants success.

Invites Scudamore to participate in radical change.

The FA should run the game and not the Premier league.

At last a man to stand up to the wannabe rulers of our game.

Greg Dyke

I think he talks a lot of sense, comes across as an England fan who isn't going to be a yes man

Greg Dyke

As long as he's kept well away from choosing the manager he's going to do a great job.

Greg Dyke

Hoddle said it was really brave and visionary that he put down his goals for times well after he is expected to be in power. ****ing clever if you ask me as no come back. I can absolutely guarantee I will outlive Greg Dyke come and sue my arse if I am wrong.

Greg Dyke

The Premier League has turned down a role on the commission to improve the England team, says Football Association chairman Greg Dyke. Dyke confirmed former England manager Glenn Hoddle will be on the taskforce, but England's top flight will offer help without being fully involved. "I disagree, but can understand," Dyke said of the Premier League's stance.

Greg Dyke

If the FA had any balls they would warn the EPL clubs that they will remove their backing thus denying them European football.
My alternative is central contracts and Team England playing globally.

Greg Dyke

Why are the extremely wealthy Prem clubs being given the money? They should fork out of their own pockets!

it's disgusting..:mad1::mad1:

Greg Dyke

Its the EPL saying that they want more than one person on the committee.

In other words they want to control it.

In Germany the German FA work in tandem with the Bundesliga. In England the EPL does not want to work with The FA.

Square one again or up yours more like it.

Keep going Greg your National Game needs you.:)

Greg Dyke

Open letter in paper today from someone on the FA board complaining that make up of Gregg' s commission are all white and male.

One way and another I am beginning to give up on this country!!

I know, its not at all constructive. It now prevents Greg from adding any non-white people to his commission for fear of any appointment being labelled tokenistic

Greg Dyke

Not sure how many on the commission but I have to say I think all white was more of an own goal than Roy's 'joke'. Boscombe's right though adding any non-whites now will seem an after thought.

Greg Dyke

So what if the committee is all white and all male. I'm guessing its been chosen to include all the available people with the relevant skill base ands attributes.

Greg Dyke

This is stupid. Race has absolutely nothing to do with this commission. The brief is "how to improve the national team" I fail to see how including a black person will aid this. I am all for diversity but purposefully including a women or black person as suggested by Rabbatt does nothing to improve decision making.

Well of course we now need to take the diversity further and check the religious and sexual beliefs so that we can ensure its a totally representative selection, oh yes and lob in some Eastern Europeans as well. Must also check he is not being ageist. On that subject a comment was made this week about Roy being 67 so out of touch . As I am 60 I feel offended so can I get the Black Lawyers to demand an enquiry ???

Greg Dyke

That Rabbatt is a right old boiler.

If women must be included in football can't they at least be easy on the eye?

Greg Dyke

BBC's David Bond seems intent on highlighting difficulties for Greg and also Roy Hodgson..
It may be just me, but , whenever I read his articles on BBC website or see him on tv he seems keen on accentuating the negative...

What is his gpg username?

Greg Dyke

Rio Ferdinand added for his insight as a player and international captain. And no other reason.

Greg Dyke

yep, not sure Rio's bringing much brainpower here... we'll see tho eh...

and yes Geoff i've noticed that Bond guy, he's a bit of a ****

Greg Dyke

Out of interest has there been any announcement yet as to who appointed to the Commission wears Rainbow Laces ?.
