I assume taking a look at another option for Left Back...

Just a brief about the player I just wrote taking info from Wikipedia.

Starting his career with his local team Montpellier, France before signing for Premier League side Liverpool for £500,000 - after being described as a promising young player.
He was officially a Liverpool player for 5 years, playing in just 11 league games but in that time he had loan spells at Bastia, then Rennes, Espanyol (where he scored his first senior goal) and finally Rangers where he scored 3 more goals in 30 league appearances.
When his contract expired at Anfield, he signed on a free transfer with Portsmouth after turning down Rangers - having not agreed terms with the Scottish side. He signed a year deal that was not renewed by then boss Harry Redknapp.
After leaving Portsmouth, he went back to France and signed for Lens. Technically a 3 year stint, involving loans at German side Kaiserslautern for 6 months, and a year long with Southampton, he was again released.
He had an unsuccessful trial with West London neighbours QPR before signing with Premier League newboys Birmingham City for 1 year, with an option of a 2nd. But due to injury and the emergence of Liam Ridgewell, he was restricted to just 9 appearances and again was released.
Finally, he signed for Greek side Atromitos FC in September 2010, before leaving in December of the same year.
It appears he has been unattached since but has recently contacted Rangers about a return to them.

Played less games for Liverpool than Stephen Wright and has much smaller ears.

Poor sod if he's trying to fix himself up with a club a hamstring tear is a pretty tough break. How was he doing before the injury?

A decent player although have not seen him for a while. Hope the injury isn't too serious.

Are you happy with us spunking £150k + on a left back? I don't think that is what Uwe had in mind when he signed him

I thought Logan did well at left-back in the second half when Redwood moved further forward, plus O'Connor put in a good performance at right-back. They'd be my 2 full-backs for Saturday if we can't get anyone else in by then. Redwood does look encouraging though.

Such a shame. He was playing very well and looked a bi improvement on Taylor. Hopefully it's nothing serious or long term but here's hoping Jake still signs :)

Was impressed with what I saw before he was injured, solid and played some nice passes, it was when he ran past the Wtcombe player that he pulled up, it seemed he had reasonable pace

Redwood also did well in my opinion at LB and when pushed forward in the second half showed some nice touches and combined well, would be reasonably confident if he started on Sat

He's got a very good pedigree so let's hope it's just a pull rather than a tear and he can fulfill his potential with us.

It all seems to have gone quiet regarding Mr Vignal. With no word on Bidwell, I would like to know how long before this chap might be fit again, and whether we are still interested. He looked very promising until his brief cameo came to it's unfortunate end.

Agreed. Fortunately for us (although not for him), we seemingly haven't signed him on a contract (yet) &/or paid a large fee.

There is always the risk that a fantastic new signing might get crocked the minute they step on the pitch (as has happened in football over the years)

This is a real shame and Vignal must be gutted to be seriously injured while unsigned at this stage of the season. Still it's a positive he's interested and hopefully we can review things when he recovers later in the year. Looks like we need a loan signing at left back in the meantime.

Has signed for Dundee United. I fear his unfortunate injury at the Wycombe friendly caused us to miss a good 'un there. Of course it won't matter if Bidwell stays.

If you have looked into his career record, I am not sure if you have or not.....then I doubt he will last until December before getting another injury or another club.

Smiffy loves everything Brentford and can never see any wrong in anything that they do, he's an absolute **** to players who aren't ours though. Nasty.

You have nailed me in one attempt there.
Can't think of any Brentford player who didnt have any redeeming qualities

Except Paul Davis I suppose - but he could be the exception that proves the rule.

ps Paul Davis the Arsenal bloke, not the well know Bees fan and local Sunday League plodder

I've seen it mate, I've seen you throw burgers at Stimson, punch Paul Roberts, wait outside to deal with Julian Alsop, get tooled up (burger flipping utensil) to deal with Gary Owers and spit at Martin Rowlands.

Wouldn't have him over Bidwell or Barron so not a big loss.

We had not signed Barron at the time of the Wycombe friendly. From what I saw of Vignal there, admittedly extremely briefly, I know which one I would prefer. I accept the comments that his injury record is not good and it would have been a risk in that regard.
