Despite the empty gnawing feeling in my guts I actually found his commentary balanced and encouraging,just the sort of message required at this stage. No overblown promises just a practical ambition that does not happen overnight. I hope MA stays but GD I think understands what is necessary to take things forward with or without him.
Am I deluding myself? maybe but I would rather look up not down. The system will be awash with players/managers from this week and whoever our manager is he will have to have the enthusiasm to make decisons and get the new players in.

I agree, people asked for a crumb of optimism.....and they got it in my book

I'm with you. Took the coward's way out and waited for you to say it as I thought it would get shouted down with the way we're all feeling at the moment. GD's role is to acknowledge how bad we all feel, remind us what we're about and provide some hope without ending up in fantasy land. I think his message did all of this. I felt better after reading it.

As far as MA is concerned we need him to stay. Great teams are built through consistent managers and to chop and change now is not necessary or productive. He has a good record that can be built on from today to the end of next season. He'll need a couple of days to pick himself up as we all do but will be back all guns blazing.

I agree ... as long as it's just not rhetoric and the promises of progression and upward mobility are followed through.

to be a bit vocal using his connections about SKYGATE - that cost us more than the £50,000 we've won to spend on a player - very depressing. GET A GRIP DYKE!!!!!!!!!

All in all I found it quite positive, without making any rash promises/predictions. He may be the Chairman, but he is also a fan and wants what we want too. It's just a shame he's not a Russian oil billionaire.
