Forget the offical attenance.

IfBlundel park hols 10,500 there must have been a minimum of 9k inside today.

Us away fans had to queue up to get in. the turnstile opperaters run out of change and two turnstiles were correct money only. Kids were free and were let in a side gat which probably explains the reduced attenadance.

The away end was packed. At 10 to 3 the only spaces seemed to be in the end block at the far side of the stand and this was soon fullish.

In twenty years of watching the Bees away, this was the biggest away attendance for a league game that I have seen (excluding the derbies at Watford, Fulam QPR and Reading).

7 official coaces, two unofficals and more Brentford cars/fans spotted on the motorway than ever before.

Proud to be a Bee

Not quite v Peterborough 92 but close......it made the journey worthwhile to see and hear such support, oustanding.

Your right Stanley,

peterborough in 92 was more but this had to be the second best

I think we had more at Blackburn away in the FA Cup,but todays turn out was fantastic no doubt about it.As Ayes says proud to be a Bee.

Yes the support the team had was fantastic, the fans never let up all game. To all that went to Grimsby, you are a credit to the football club. I think the support this season has been great.

now i know what it feels like to support a 'big' club

Even on their stated attendance that was the biggest gate for Blundell Park this season, so great to be a Bee, glad I turned up.

Pity a striker didn't!!!!

So proud to be a bee ...we may have lost but the non-stop commitment of players and supporters alike will lead to a rosy future ..we may not have got the result today but if we play like that next week we're get the goals!! Must have been close to 2,000 bees today methinks! Dobbo was brillant ....Funny Grimsby fans :nono:

Difficult to say how many were there really - did anybody else get in free? I got pulled out of the queue (as an "oldie") by a steward and shoved in through the side gate without paying! I was so embarrassed that I bought £5 worth of draw tickets (still don't know whether or not I won £1000!).

As everyone has said, the support was fantastic - but some of our "teenyboppers" need to learn that supporting the team on the pitch is more important than making threatening gestures to the opposition.

I understand the 'offical' away attendance was just under a 1000:eek:

Grimsby Support

You must understand wrong!! I reckon Grimsby are fiddling their attendance figures ...only 6,800 yesterday???

Grimsby Support

I was there and reckon we had between 1500 and 1800 in the ground but Grimsby reckon the total attendance was under 7000, so them claiming we only brought 1000 makes sense:wave:

Well, seven of us arrived after they had closed the turnstiles, so our attendance is unlikely to have been "clicked." Luckily I spotted a steward who let us in through the gate, in exchange for the correct fee.

There is no way that there were fewer than 1,000 of us - but that overall attendance figure is very fishy too!

1500+ at least-not many spaces apparent.....................

The 'official' attendence did seem a touch low. From where I stood..........sorry sat, the Grimsby sides looked rather full - I certainly felt at the time, the crowd was more nearer the 8,500 mark (1300/1400 Bees)

Yes but lots of free tickets for kids, including mine, which presumably don't count against attendance figures.

Was impressed how they went out of their way to let you know about it as well.......!

Smaller ground than it looks on telly though.

You were lucky Ed. My mate got to the turnstile and the operator said -"sorry mate, no change, you can give me the £20 or go to the back of the queue".
With 2 mins to go before kick off what option did he have?
I'm considering writing to Grimsby just to make sure that they're gatemans takings were £4 over?!!:nono:

It wont be! All our lot who paid 16 notes handed it straight over (well I dont know about Ed... but four of us did....) got no ticket whatsoever so I guess he pocketed the lot

re: peterbourough `92... think we took 4k that day.... we drove through their yesterday.... 12 years to the day

Spot on mate.

All cash + no tickets = massive fiddle.

Really hope that Tranmere spank them.

Grimsby Support

We didn't get tickets going through the turnstile anyway

Grimsby Support

Indeed. No one was given tickets no matter what time they arrived....very iffy.

If the Away end held 2400 I would say we had around 2000 in that crowd.

Well done everyone for there support the players loved the support and I spoke to 5 players on the pitch and everyone of them was gutted but they all said the same thing we will do it for you next week.

It was only 2 months ago we was doomed but here we are on a verge of a new era under MA and a rejuvenated support and team.

Come on you Reds.

Dead proud to be a Bee.

Ditto,

It seams loads of kids and pensioners were let in for free through the side gates.

If the ground holds less than 11k, there is no way it was only just over 50% full

yeah, I arrived at about 3.25 with 2 other bees who were stuck on the same train as i was, and we paid in cash but weren't taken through a turstile. reckon the steward pocketed our cash - and we had to pay full price, the bastards.
