Grimsby town

Davey the trains are looking so expensive now it would probably be cheaper to drive up and stay overnight!!

Grimsby town

Let me just verify this.... are you still talking?

who can drive then... login in one car beezy the other? :maybeetemptedsmilie:

Grimsby town

Well I've decided I'm gonna drive up to this one, so if anyone wants a lift let me know.

me driving and spending a score on b and b is going to be cheaper than getting the train so liven your self up and give in to the inevitable. in any case we will want to celebrate our last minute staying up winner in style won't we. i hope ivor the ginger has nothing to do with this:nono: ;)

Grimsby town

I don't mind driving if I've got a full car to share the petrol!! Train tickets are looking extortionate so it's got to be the way to go surely!

Grimsby town

There aren't any return trains after the game on the GNER line.

The only way by train involves a very convolouted route via Nottingham and Lincoln.

Car looks favourite.

Grimsby town

This is all getting complicated now!

I definetly wanna go but it depends on the costs so when people have decided what they are doing and how much it will cost I will decide for definete then.

If there's no chance of us staying up by then it's a bit pointless too.

can't see it being decided by then Vick. there will still be six points to play for and a lot of the teams down there are playing each other in the next few weeks.

It's 162 miles I just looked it up!!

by road i assume can't be as the crow flies surely apologies to the poster above, i thought i was clued up on these sort of things

Grimsby town

whats more relevant

Grimsby town

he may be getting train, anyway i refuse to believe that its 160 miles to newcastle from grimsby. its only 280 from london to newcastle. the 160 mile figure must be a convuluted route keeping to main roads. anyway who facking cares we'll be in the pub:)

Grimsby town

Ok let's just clear this up

Brentford - Grimsby = 180 miles
Grimsby - Skegness = 40 miles
Grimsby - Newcastle = 191 miles

Grimsby town

My route planner says 162 miles to Newcastle from Grimsby!!! What way are you going? lol

Any decisions on whether we are staying in Skeggy yet? There are a few B and Bs for around 15-18 quid a night so it can be a right cheap one!!

I just used the AA route planner for the mileage, didn't look at the route they took.
All seem roughly the same and it's definetly too far to Newcastle.

Grimsby town

How weird I used the AA planner too

Yep Skegness is definitely the way to go. I can't believe this is such a difficult decision - it's miles away, the trains are a fortune and there is a nice tacky seaside resort nearby...what's so difficult? :D

Grimsby town

Ok so the option would be drive up to Skegness and then get the train to Grimsby for the match, unless poeple aren't going to drink at the football?

Stay Saturday night in Skegness and travel home on the Sunday?

Grimsby town

I don't think there are trains down that bit of coastline are there? If it's only 30 miles though we could share a cab or something I guess.

you sicko!!! :nono:  :(

Grimsby town

Lets not forget Grimsby ground is actually in Cleethorpes, which is a coastal town with B&B's?

Grimsby town

It's not as tacky as Skeggy though is it? Besides, I am not sure that I would would to stay in a town full of Grimsby fans given their less than savoury reputation.

But I'll go along with whatever.

that proves its the roads they are using on the planner then, otherwise how could it be further from grimsby to newcastle than from brentford to grimsby:confused: i guess its because you have to go back to m18/ a1 which means a long sideways trip before you start heading north.

Grimsby town

so just to clear this up. We drive up early on sat to arrive in skegness for 1030, check in to b and b then pub at 11 then train and or cab to gtfc then back to skeggy for a night of fun and games. Back home on sunday, sorted.

I wouldn't be surprised now, due to your other interest in your life thesedays, that you stop going to football all together;)
