My mate supports donny rovers and he's heard that we're about to sign guy ipoua from them till the end of the season. Anyone know anything about this?

I'm not sure he does. Good in the approach play but not exactly a fox in the box (more a bull in a china shop). Probably means goodbye to Ben May I would've thought.

Personally, I don't think it would be the end of 'May' as we need cover, and you can't really class harrold as that at the moment...he had a shocker against Barnsley...

I remember that too. He was the dogs bollox that day. It was several years ago though and it has to be asked if he has progressed.

He hasn't scored a competitive goal since 2002/3 when he played a whole season for Gillingham and scored 7 times.

He is 29 years old.

Personally, I'd rather have some up and coming non league type who has proved he knows where the goal is.

Ive seen him play and he is a good player and always improving and mabye with the right manager he could score a few goals for us. Wouldnt mind giving him a chance.

Not too sure as he has always underperformed. Perhaps a short term contract would "encourage" him to do something.

I will never forget that 4-3 game - on a Friday night when both he and Owusu were fantastic. Ipuoa has everything, pace, power, strength, aireal ability, great shot, but it is rare that he functions at full throttle.

Could be a world beater but has a lot to prove.

Andy Forbes is playing for Eastleigh now, a step up from Winchester City where he scored something like 70 goals in one season. He is obviously finding it tougher in Ryman Premier as he has only scored 16 goals in 18 games this year.

That type of player is surely a better gamble than some of these "ne'er do wells" we go after.

NLB must know ? We'll be signing near 30 year old non league goalies next ............

Doncaster are trying to buy a new striker and have recently made a bid which has been increased 3 times. So mabye if thats succesful ipoua might be loaded off!

To sum up :- He's 29 & might be worth a short-term punt because he's scored a few goals @ League 2 level, & I too remember being impressed in the GP game a while back...

Against this is his recent record in our Division (unable to displace Fortune-West?!), & not torn up any trees in the Championship with Gillingham...
(That said, Gills have struggled for goals ever since they went up despite having tried a plethora of strikers, some of whom [Shaw?] have done better elsewhere. This may say more about the now departed Hessenthaler and coaching, than the talent available.)

Does anybody know anything more? eg is he injury-prone/ disruptive?

Got to say that the ongoing injury crisis and the inability to date to address it is now risking the entire remainder of the season.

We are so close to achieving something special but I can just see it slipping away - and no this is not just the usual Brentford pessimism but an objective viewpoint based upon the resources currently available to us.

For a team still in the FA Cup and Play Off zone and facing perhaps 2 games a week this is a recipe formdisaster.

MA's rallying calls can only work for so long as tired or inexperienced limbs rise to the challenge but there will come a time when they can no longer respond.

I know we are on a six match unbeaten run and that makes it even more frustrating.

Ace Face will say, and it is hard to objectiviely disagree that we cannot afford to strengthen.

OK but I would say that we cannot afford NOT to.

We all know the reasons pro and con and I do not intend to rehash them here.

We have 3 regulars in Talbot, Hargreaves and Salako that are over 30 and we are 2 strikers down given the Rhodes injury and Claridge's departure.

Who knows what is going on behind the scenes but I for one feel that this could be our best (remaining ?) chance to get out of this division and we must maximise our chances of achievement.

Maybe the Board is waiting for the result at Hartlepool to see if we will get any additional Cup income which could subsidise additional recruitment.

Fair enough but the League is our priority and I am not relishing the prospect of a mediocre MK Dons team facing a heroic squad of half fit and tired players some out of position and a kindergarten on the bench.

NLB - Agree totally with your analysis. Whilst I can understand the caution this time round given our financial situation, this sort of situation has occurred before on a regular basis. Anything other than a win tomorrow will be a real blow - and that includes to future crowds this season. It is also extremely worrying that we are continuing to have to put out players who are carrying injuries that appear to be more than just 'niggles', and could have more adverse effects later this season. - I still think that Coppell's team suffered in a similar way & contributed to him leaving.

I think we have a larger squad than we did at the end of Coppell's season when, if my memory serves me correctly we only made 1 or 2 changes from the first choice 11 in the last 10-12 games.

At the minute we are having some particularly bad luck with injuries and are starting to run into suspensions. A midfielder on loan would be my priority at the moment, but we are also pressed at right-back and striker - missing utility players like O'Connor and Lawrence limits our options. But we knew this was a risk when we plumped for a smaller squad including some higher paid players.

I think we've used around 25 players so far (excluding LDV and subs not getting on) which is more than many bigger clubs, I'm sure; shows that we haven't had that much luck on the injury front
