Hampton v Bees Match Reports

Well !!!
Is Mr Abbey worth a contract or did Lloydy do the business?.

Well, Baby Ben scored both goals before being stretchered off. He looked in a bad way. There may be someone else out there who can be a bit more specific to the injury.

No idea about the extent of Abbey's injury, but we were a poorer side after he was replaced by Delboy. Lloydy didn't play. Julian Charles missed the kind of open goal that dreams / nightmares are made of. Three yards out, goalie beaten, goal at his mercy, somehow he contrived to take so long that a defender was just about able to knock it away.

Our best players were Folan and Hunt, IMHO. Time to try Hunt up front please, Steve.

Not a blinding match, but we won which is all that matters at the moment, In the first half we looked ok, Hunt was flying and in my view was man of the match, also Ben Abbey looked alot better than he did against Sutton and took both his goals well after being set up by hunt both times. Second half not so good, Abbey got a kick in the head/face and looked in a bad way, i was right along side the incident and from then on Hampton looked the better team. But a win is a win. Roll on Wigan away.

Abbey took the second goal really well, diving in low to the gorund with his head when most people would not have gone in for it.

what i can't believe is that Evo, Owusu and Ingarmarsson were on the bench and were not given a run out!!! (well up until i left with 2-3 minutes to go...)

Perhaps Coppell thought that Hampton's "unusual" approach to a friendly justified not risking Evo and co. I think the ref should probably have booked their number 7 early in the first half - it might have stopped the nonsense. I know it's not standard practice to issue yellow cards in a friendly, but I thought there were several incidents where this prevented the ref from keeping things under control. When their player kicked out at Hunt (who limped thereafter), I thought we were going to witness a full-scale punch-up.

Club call says abbey has mild concussion but is ok.
Concerns me we are not outplaying non league outfits, but I haven't witnessed a game yet so will hold fire on that thought.

We have picked up plenty of players from hampton over the last few years so they will not take it as a friendly I wouldn't think, but an opportunity to kick an ex team mate prima donna (in their eyes), or get an opportunity themselves to shine.

Does it look like coppell likes folan as he seems to start him?
He must know him from CP days!

Well, we put out a second string line-up yesterday, even if Coppell is considering some of them for the first team. So it's not too worrying that we didn't slaughter them. We certainly played much the more imaginative football.

It's still too early to make many judgements and there's nothing (new) to be concerned about. I gather that Coppell plans to put out a much stronger side against Woking, which he sees as the hardest test so far. Of course none of us will see the game, so we'll have to wait until the India game (assuming the tickets haven't sold out yet) to get a better idea of what Coppell is thinking.

Did Tabby Cat play?

I only stayed for the 1st half (domestic commitments). I think some of the Hampton players would have done better to use the game as a stage rather than a ring. I also think some of our boys showed great restraint at times.
