Re: Harrold-gone

'if he fails at football we will be able to get our money back by hiring him out as a Prince Harry look alike..."?

could it be someone is more desperate for money than us?

its a shame as i thought Harrold was a useful player but at least the money cant hurt...

Re: Harrold-gone

All the best to him, never really shone for us,hopefully he'll show some potential, but not quite enough for them to finish above us :sorted:

Good luck Matt

Re: Harrold-gone

Personally I thought he was half decent but was always in and out of the team. A bit like Constantine, he just didnt seem to fit in. Amazed we got a small fee for someone who struggled to make the first team. I just hope he doesnt come back and score a hat-trick against us.

Tell me what Matt Harrold did for BFC that Stewart Talbot didn't please - in words of one syllable.

Re: Harrold-gone

He looked more like Prince Harry. But after that, I'm struggling. Yes, good luck to Matt in whichever career (football or lookalike) he can do best in!

Re: Harrold-gone

good luck matty, no big loss though, didnt rally get a full chance, hes only young

Re: Harrold-gone

hes got talent but far to lightweight without enough pace, but maybe johnson can manage to motivate him

 failed? (is that one syllable ?)
hat-trick? (that's at least two)

I'm not very good at this :owusu:

Good luck though Prince Harry :)

Re: Harrold-gone

I'm really surprised by this. Johnson's record with strikers is probably more mixed than in any other positions. Obviously Uncle John really rates him.

Re: Harrold-gone

Not too sorry to see Matt go, but it wouldn't surprise me if he got a few goals next season. He didn't look bad, but stamina and pace were what stopped him moving onto that next level imo. He use to looked shattered when he would come on as a sub!

Anyway good luck Matt, i hope we had the common sense to put a sell clause in the deal.

Re: Harrold-gone

I always worry when a good manager signs a player we've deemed surplus to requirements. He's an honest player and you've got to give credit to a young striker who has played on the left side of a five man midfield and made the 89th minute substitution his own without grumbling. Good luck to him. Maybe when he bulks out he'll really start fulfilling that potential.

Re: Harrold-gone

Certainly knows where the goal is, but not sure that's enough.

Needs to build his upper body strength as he doesn't have the pace to get away from defenders.

Gary Johnson is a decent judge of a player and Harrold could turn out to be a very good striker but at the moment the money and the wages are more important considering the options we have up front.

Re: Harrold-gone

Lets hope he does not come back to haunt us. At times I thought he really had the makings of a good striker but when he has come on not done enough, but as has been posted before not given a long enough run out. However I trust Martin and if he thinks he's not good enough for the Bees thats good enough for me.

Re: Harrold-gone

If I was a Yeovil Town supporter, I would be worried that my manager says he has found the striker he is looking for, and in the next sentence says he scored twice in 32 appearances last season!

Harrold - gone

Re: Harrold-gone

No great surprise that he is gone, as a young striker on the transfer list who did well on loan at Grimsby, the only surprise is that a Div 1 team came in for him.

Never looked like he could handle the physical requirements of the central striker position & his touch was also often poor, although that could be nerves. Nothing suggested to me that he would quite make the grade, but I still hope we negotiated a sell-on, as I remember seeing a young Les Ferdinand on loan for us & he was absolute toilet!!

Re: Harrold-gone

didn't show any signs of improvement last year, not sorry to see him go, could be a good player in the right situation but that wasn't gonna be here...

He may be looking for a cheap young striker who he can have on his bench and mould into a first team player in a year or two's time beacuse that's what Matt is. We're looking for players that are several levels above Matt and we haven't got time to wait for him to catch up. Players like Peters and Rhodes have stayed because they can make an impact now, sadly Matt isn't ready for that. If we'd have gone down 2 years ago he'd probably be our first choice striker and banging the goals in.

I hope it works out for him. :sorted:

Sorry to see him go - but MA didn't give him too many chances. At the end of last season MA played him as a sort of midfielder; he also seldom played alongside Deon, which could have helped his goal record a bit. Could have done more, but at least he scored a hat-trick.

And at least he was better than Andy Woon, who scored a hattrick in his first game for us and then hardly did anything else for us despite being regularly our main striker. (1973 or thereabouts?).

I am a Yeovil supporter and I am not worried in the slightest. We have one of the best managers outside the Premiership and his record with players is excellent. Someone on this thread said his record with strikers is his weak point. I disagree. We have had a higher turnover of strikers than other areas, that is true, but all have played their part.

Kirk Jackson - Was in Stevenages reserves. We signed him and he scored nearly a goal a game for the 25 games he played for us in the Conference and just missed out on the Golden Boot.

Phil Jevons - Got 27 last season. Double his previous best ever.

Bartosz Tarachulski - A real fans favourite and had an excellent season. Only left as he asked for too much money.

If Gary has seen something in Harrold, then he can get it out of him.

All the best to Bees fans everywhere this season and here is to a successful season for both clubs. :)

Harrold - gone

Make no mistake Yeovil Fan, Harrold does have something. Just be prepared to be patient. He's tall but doesn't have a clue how to use his size to hold the ball up. He's also a good finisher but needs work to get into goalscoring positions. If you already have first choice strikers then you'll have the time to put into Mat that we don't.

Harrold - gone

Ditto the above. Matty, in Bees colours, lacked pace and physical presence, although he did seem to get into some good goal-scoring positions. The big worry is that BFC/MA just wasnt the right club for him, and that Gary Johnson will find something we couldnt, and he will come back and score 2 hat-tricks against us. Remember, we are the side that took Gary Blisset from Crewe but turned down that Platt fella - he'll never make a pro.....

shame to see hime go, he was on the verge of being comedy gold, every time he came off the bench.

and turned down Geoff Horsfield when he was at Halifax as "he'll never make it !" - but that was that **** Noad€$ decision despite Bully, Ray Lew and John Griffin all agreeing that they wanted him !

Criticism on here of Matt Harrold is a little harsh me thinks, he's young and didn't have a run in the side to try and learn from. We didn't have a reserve side so lack of games there as well so

Good luck Matt

My thoughts exactly Loyal Bee

He was never going to be aggressive enough to play as a target man.
A bit like Frank Bruno, not nasty enough really .

No - He was released at the end of the season. He didn't make the grade. He was loaned out to Tiverton and Exeter where he did well and then Weymouth where he struggled. He finished the season at St Albans on loan.

sorry but he is no great loss. nothing against him, he was signed from a low level of football but didnt do it even for conference and ryman teams. hope he matures physically and improves to justify yeovil signing him... not really bothered though now he plays in bhouys kit! good luck to the lad..

on our OS now.

best of luck to him, just as long as he dont score against us

from the yeovil site- "made 32 appearences for brentford scoring 2 goals"

he scored more than that in 1 game against gainsborough so that figure cant be right-im sure he didnt play that many games either!

Harrold - gone

Thought that Matt was a decent signing when he first arrived, what with the hat-trick in the cup and a couple of vital goals during 'The Great Escape' (Wycombe and Colchester spring to mind).

Unfortunately the more I saw him play, the more I realised he was a little out of his depth. It must have been hard for the lad, adjusting to the professional game and that, but he didn't really cut the mustard.

Good luck to the bloke, he brought a touch of regal class to the place, but I doubt he'll be missed that much.

My Reponse is bound to offend alot of you people on here but speak to my bothered pocket.Martin Allen has very rarely made mistakes with his signings for this club [claridge].Some of the players he has released has somewhat baffled me wells, burton, rankin, somner, julian.I hate to say it but Matt Harold i personally thought was a good striker although he didnt get a fair crack in the first team and he will be a striker that will come back to haunt us.BAD MOVE MARTIN :(

It's 5 goals in 40 if you include cup games too.
