Hartlepool tactics

How will they (Hartlepool) set about this game from the outset ?
On 48 points currently and a win at home against Port Vale (last game of their season), will give them 51 points. Not sure 51 points will be enough to keep any team up this season and they have a bad goal difference aswell.
Will they play deep and look for a draw or do they need 3 points against us ?

My 3 other teams to go down with Walsall are Swindon (Come on Bristol City do 'em)
Tranmere and Rotherham. MK Dons to beat Tranmere next Saturday.

It's my wife's 50th birthday this coming Saturday and she supports Hartlepool !
How bad is that :(

Hartlepool tactics

Well they aint safe, they need the points saturday. just can't see them looking for only a draw with 2 games to play. i think they will definitely come to win the match.
They were awful when we beat them earlier in the season.
If we stay tight at the back, we'll win.

Hartlepool tactics

In a way, there's nothing better than a poor team under pressure to win. Know that a draw isn't good enough and will have to come out and play. Like Swindon.

On paper at least. But it's Brentford in't

Hartlepool tactics

hartlepool will come to win
and we will need to be very disciplined and patient

assuming andy frampton returns at left bank
i hope MA keeps faith with tillen and plays him
at left midfield to enable tabb to move into the centre
to play alongside pratley

the question is with newman so out of sorts
and lewis short of match fitness
do we need to play a holding midfielder?

i assume MA will continue with lloyda and marcus upfront
with willock or rhodes to come off the bench

Hartlepool tactics

...hopefully they will go for three points and make it an open game...................

Hartlepool tactics

Obv they will come at us, even if it is unlikley they will stay up with 51 points.

ouch...if the bees win i hope it doesn't spoil your wife's birthday.

surely hartlepool have to go for a win? paul stephenson will be fired up for this one. i'm a bit stressed about this match but as mrs loak keeps telling me- it's only a game. if only it was that simple.

I think with there situation they are gonna come for the win!! I think that means me have to do 1 thing:

Attack!!! That is our best form of defence!!!:D

Non of the sitting on a 1-0 lead again @ GP:nono: :nono:

We just need to play good attacking football and we will win!!:D :sorted:

PMA!! U REDS!!!

51 points might keep them up though so a draw might be what they need, certainly better than nothing.

My guess is they will be defensive and try and hit us on the break.

Hartlepool tactics

I very much doubt they can survive unless they get 54 points. 52 might do it, but it has to be unlikely.

I think they'll come at us, maybe not all guns blazing but if it stays 0-0 they'll be pushing forward just as much as us.

I expect us to keep the same XI with possibly Frampton replacing Tillen. If Newman wasn;t left out after Lewis' performance on Monday he never will be, and we won't play without a deep central player.

Gayle v Michael Nelson could be the key battle.

I really don't know what to do about next Saturday.
Can't make the game personally, but will be there in spirit.
Got a ticket for Bournemouth.
Thinking maybe not attempting to find out the result of Hartlepool until the Sunday, so her indoors has a great Birthday on the Saturday ?!
Will ask Martin Allen what he reckons at the training ground tomorrow !

For what it's worth would put Framps back in as always more solid with him present especially if they go for it from the start.
Think midfield will be the same although I'd still rather see Tabby down the middle.
Up front a lot will depend on winning the battle in the air so would push Marcus up against Nelson. While he's not that mobile he wins everything in the air and the only time we've looked strong vs big lumps is when we played Southend at home when Gayle and Lloyd worked well against Sodje and Prior.

If we aren't ahead by half time would sacrifice one for Rhodes to give us the extra pace up front.

Still find it strange that such a good footballing side as Hartlepool have fallen apart so badly since Neale Cooper left and just hope they are as poor as they were earlier in the season.

Hartlepool tactics

I think the only change he'll make wil be Frampton in at left back.
Newman will start. so will Pratley and so will Tabb. Can't see Brooker being left out either after that goal.
It would be interseting to see Tillen in at left mid and getting Tabb in the centre but this will come at Pratley's expense, therefore i think its unlikely.
We have to get at them from the off. Get it on the floor, get it forward early, and work really hard in the middle and ideally get a goal within the first 20 mins which will hopefully settle the nerves. although almost certainly we'll need more than one goal as i don't fancy us having to hold on to a 1-0 lead.

Throw the kitchen sink at them from the off!!

Agree entirely, go hell for leather, realistically cant see anything less than 4 points from 2 games getting us up and 6 points not going to guarantee promotion.
It could come down to goal difference between us and southend, they are +8 on us. If they lost both games in total -3 goals (assuming 0-1 and 0-2), then we need to make 5 goals up.
They will come for 3 points, so could be a good open attacking game of footie.
