Hate Corner Returns

Hate Corner Returns

I could never see a problem with HC.....looking from above in the more expensive part of New Road....Let the riff raff gesture towards each-other....GP lost it's soul with the Royal Oak going & seating on New Road.

Oh moan moan Royal Oak went 20 years ago and seats in new Road now for must be ten years. Yes I loved the Oak and spent many happy years as a kid standing on there as i did in the middle of the New Road.. Now I stand in the lots of soul Ealing Road and love it..... time to stop harking on about things that are impossible to resurrect, move on, and start creating some soul yourself.

Hate Corner Returns

be good to get the hate corner back was a good laugh back in the days and noisey,

I agree, it was good in it's day but I fear that if it were brought backall the chavs from Ealing Road will go there.

Harry Curtis? Stop panicking. Andy Scott will do the business. Give him time. :sorted:

lol

For a second I thought you were having a pop at someone having a moan.

I think when the Club take into consideration why the two were ejected if they sit down face to face with them, they may find out that the pair had been through a really traumatic day before hand...

In the stewards defence, that doesnt excuse their behaviour ('if' they were out of order) and they weren't to know[, ....

Thank you Greenholme, that sheds some welcome light on the situation which I think everyone needs to read and accept - the two gents concerned were ejected not banned so they're welcome back on Saturday.

I've had hardly any complaints re the stewarding since Tony Ashley has been in charge, I watched the situation unfold on Tuesday, initially thinking "great, Hate Corner's coming back" but then sent a text to Tony as events got "a little excited/o.t.t." and he immediately attended the scene.

But BEE H, why didn't Tony (or the initial stewards attending the scene) deal with it even handedly. There was banter/gestures back and forth between young Bees AND young Southend supporters. It was perhaps a bit embarassing but essentially harmless. The stewards decided to deal with it by targetting ONLY the young Bees fans. (I suspect because it was "easy")

The initial "intervention" by an adult :) Bees fan was merely trying to get the stewards to be sensible/fair. It had been a very emotional day for him but he was simply trying to help the situation and even took in good humour the "you fat bsterd" calls from Southend fans (oddly enough, I got the same derisory remarks when I intervened - and I'm athletically built :D).

Anyway, time to draw a line under this but please ask the stewards to:
a) show some common sense
b) be even handed IF the situation does require their input

Is that a general statement about everyone on ER? If you are calling me a chav I shall be forced to ask you to recant by sticking your head down the loo and pulling the chain! Laney and his mob are quite content in the upper class section of the ER and I doubt will return to Hate Corner although it will always live in our hearts.

Slatts,I didnt think you were a chav, you know what I mean so stop it.

No problem mate, you've probably heard the circumstances by now but if not give me a call and I'll fill you in (not literally!)

Again, I think he will admit he acted like a prat but there were reasons for it!

No-one has problems with "banter", it's football but Stewards have to draw a line if, for example, attempts are made to clamber across the black netting on the seats.

May I also point out that the two gentlemen were ejected by the Police and not by our Stewards.

Hate Corner Returns

How does this all work Bee H. What role do the police have in what I would have thought was an entirely private matter for the club unless they had broken the law?.

Big build late 20 early 30 this sat iam going to find him and take pic of him to make another complaint at the office

Don't let markbfc see you taking pictures inside the ground :nono:

All the old HC regulars have grown up, and would look out of place today.

It's been done. We've had the debate many times before on the GPG. Move along now, nothing to see here.

Hate Corner Returns

Surely the "old skool" were just the Chavs of their time......

:fishing:

speak for your self, ive never been a chav and im sure the likes of dave lane and billy the bee werent lol

Hate Corner Returns

It wasnt all chavs though, that was the difference. There were a few oiks there of course. The chav population has grown every where in the UK last few years any way.The difference was that older Bees ln their late 20's and 30's would make up witty chants and songs and the younger members would join in.Ealing Rd is different, the chavvy oiks who think theyre all that now lead most of the singing with some embarassing chants.

Weird how time passes you by so quickly the older you get. Doesn't seem that long ago the New Road was glorious terracing. If I had to have a quick guess at when the seats went in I'd have said six or seven years ago - but someone told me it was mid-nineties. Is this true? Does anyone recall the exact year?

Sigh. You mean somebody made the mistake of filing it amoungst the infamous 'Brentford FC Paperwork'? Under 'T' for 'Terraces'? Next to 'Turner'?

Well, if that's right and it was the summer of 1996, I am now officially very very old indeed and have no concept of time any more. Twenty years ago - are you serious?

dont forget that there was a certain amount of irony in the name "hate corner".

yes lots of singing
yes a fair amount of winding up opposition supporters.

but rarely any real naughtiness.

Some comedy and character, kids can't do that anymore.

You're quite right about the irony and I think to follow on from where it left off, it would be quite amusing and original if Hate Corner made a comeback and reinvented itself as 'Love Corner'. It would certainly confuse the hell out of away supporters and would be sure to get the club some much needed publicity.

Songs could include......

'We love you Brentford, we do, but we appreciate you coming all this way'.

'You're not very, you're not very, you're not very good. But we're sure you'll turn things round, sure you'll turn things round'.

Millwall at home, a sympathetic blast of 'We understand your aggression' to the tune of 'Sing when you're winning'. Or... 'We quite like you, we quite like you, we quite like you, you're OK'.

'If you hate Queens Park Rangers (or still hate Birmingham City) clap your hands' followed by a deathly silence.

'Super Brentford F.C., They're by far the greatest team, but yours is quite good too'. etc. etc.

Just a thought. Put a bit of fun back into it.

Hate Corner Returns

VCMAZZ spot on mate, I remember the "bad old days" in football and do not want those days to return, BUT how would anyone react to someone having a wee in their back garden ?? "oh go on but be on your way when you've finished" ???????

Banter is a part of English football on all levels but employing many Stewards who have no idea of what the game and banter is all about will always cause problems, and they will react with poor decisions as they have no idea what football is all about.

Next a swearing ban in Ealing Road, well I hope the 10 remaining fans enjoy the last games at Griffin Park, as the club will not last long, without us vocal passionate fans that don't like visiting people having a wee in our back yard ?????
