Henrik Dalsgaard (Released)

I like the way he appears to get up and attack the ball in the air. It was something that stood out for me at Aldershot and again against Southampton.

Legend in the making...a class act

Credit where it's due, the fact the DoFs seem to have unearthed a RB who actually looks like taking Colin's spot in our strongest XI - whom many of us have agreed over the past 2 seasons is perhaps one of the classiest footballers at our club - is nothing short of fantastic.

Introduced the said man to the GPG in my office today .. he was liking the nice comments so far .. but I warned him they will change after a couple of poor performances or defeats :D

He's lucky then. In the past people have been written off on the basis of preseason or no evidence whatsoever. The latest of these coming on Tuesday night:fishing:

Henrik Dalsgaard (Released)

Surprised no one has mention him yet .. I thought he looked the business when he came on

Yep, he can do it on a wet Tuesday night alright, but what about a warm Saturday?

He certainly added height and directness; Colin on the left was also interesting.

Henrik Dalsgaard (Released)

I thought he looked head and shoulders above most others when he came on. He looked to me like a premier player in waiting. Noticeable that Clark who had targeted Elias for over an hour swiftly moved on after a couple of minutes against Henrik...

To be fair he was fresh and everyone else was cramping up

Henrik Dalsgaard (Released)

Could he play right centre back if Harlee moves on?

Considering he's looked class at RB I'd not consider that for a moment and keep him where he's been doing great. Worry about getting a CB to play CB.

Just like the numerous suggestions I've seen over the past year about playing Bjelland in midfield, our squad's big enough now that we don't need to start putting square pegs in round holes any more.

good athlete and can jump but Colin is a miles better defender and must be reinstated with immediate affect........a very un Brentford player

Better than Colin? You have got to be joking!!

If ever there was a player the term "one trick pony" applied to, well here he is!

Henrik Dalsgaard (Released)

I thought he had a good game (particularly going forward) but got absolutely done for the 4th goal.

Henrik Dalsgaard (Released)

He cant defend....you have to ask question about a so called defender who supposedly only converted to a defender a few years ago

It baffles me as to why Dalsgaard has been given the shirt over Colin. Although Dalsgaard is not a bad player, Colin has been superb over the last 2 seasons, is an excellent defender, and has a great understanding with Jota. Plus with the uncertainty over Dean, it doesn't make sense to disrupt what was an improving defence any further by changing the RB too.

As a defender he was poor. Positionaly Colin is much better. Tactic lumping to him for header similar to how Bidwell did a few years back was soon covered by Forest.

I seem to remember Colin as a very good player, and certainly would add to the side that played today. Probably helped having Dean and Barbet along side him at times. But would revert to all 3 coming back into the side unless transfer issues are taking over the side.

I thought he was one of the better players today albeit the bar was not set very high today

Henrik Dalsgaard (Released)

I thought he was our best defender today and got forward well IMHO.

Except he didn't do much in the way of defending and was at least partially at fault for two goals.

Henrik Dalsgaard (Released)

Disagree with both parts of that statement

Look at the highlights. Gave away a needless foul for the first, and it was his poor clearance that went straight to the Forest guy for the 4th. I like him a lot, he's great going forward but he was as much a part of our defensive frailties today as the others.

Decent addition to the squad but his close control needs to be a bit closer.

Seems a fair assessment. Looked totally knackered at the end. I wonder if his marauding runs tire him out.

He gives us an outlet for the high ball which worked well a few times. He's a good athlete and was pushed very far forward. First half he was playing more or less as a winger. The downside was all of our build up then came down the left which became a bit predictable. Agree he may have tired as his attempt to tackle Traore in the build up to their third was pathetic.

Shouldn't be an automatic pick ahead of Colin but is a decent option and shouldn't (obviously) be written off just yet.

Really? He was rarely in a defensive position and left Egan exposed imho. Osborn also gave him a roasting when he was close enough to him

I thought the other 3 defenders looked worse, Henry gave away the second, the first and third Worldies from outside the box and the fourth I agree he got done but the actual finish was a deflection.

I reckon if you sat on New Road he was good, Braemar not so good.

Henrik Dalsgaard (Released)

The defence lacks balance and I'd change both centre backs immediately for Harlee and Barbet and be tempted to put Maxi back in as well.

Henrik Dalsgaard (Released)

Isn't a right back in a million years, was almost never in a defensive position and when we lost the ball didn't have the urgency to get back that you have to have to play that position.
Some will see the winning headers and forays forward and think that was good, not at the expense of almost no defending when your a right back.
Maxi is good going forward as well anyway.
I find little bit hard to judge Egan's performance today because he was left so exposed by this.

they showed a replay for the second too where you could see Murphy anticipating a rebound and peeling off Dalsgaard (in painful slow motion). it's not a massive clanger cos obviously, it's good play by Murphy and lucky it lands straight to him - but would a better defender be staying with Murphy "just in case" in that situation? maybe...

yeah but for the fourth goal, his missed tackle helps lead to the fact that the forest guy gets so much room on the edge of the area to take a shot (and enough open shots from there, some will go in).

and the first and third were good, sure, but "worldies" is a bit glib and lets our defence off too easily. both avoidable, shouldn't let players have chance to line up a shot from there.

on the other hand - it's Dalsgaard's third game in England. give him a couple of months and he might show great progress, adjustment, etc and look dynamite. you can understand why some at the club were attracted to the strong elements of his game. with the foreigners, i always come back to thinking that it took Jota a couple of months before he started really looking tasty.... so, we'll see.

His positional play yesterday must have been planned and tactical, first half he way the side of the dug outs, if the coaching team had felt he was too far forward it would have been easy to tell him, similarly, they could have told him at h/t, but it didn't seem so as second half he continued taking up positions similar to the 1st half. Again, if DS and/or O'Kelly/Frank felt he was not playing to the role he was instructed they could have got a message to him to rein it in. Maybe he was confused about his instructions.

Yep me too and quite frankly after his performance yesterday Rico is lucky Field has gone out on loan!

Swapping Field for Rico would be crazy. Field was in trouble a few games last year and got caught in friendlies too this year.

I like Dalsgaard, however, Colin is the better player, but then you have a player who seems to want out or a move somewhere else, just like HD, Jota and Vibe.

Tough for DS to pick a settled side having 4 or 5 players who aren't signed up longer term..

Henrik Dalsgaard (Released)

Wonder if he and Colin could form a right side combination and we move Jota inside or down the left?

Oddly Dalsgaard forward play which is decent is very wide and left Jota movin in more central.

Because Dalsgaard is right-footed and Jota is left-footed. Jota's not going to beat a left back on the outside and has to turn inside anyway; Dalsgaard has to stretch the back wide and hope Jota can get into the box more centrally.

I know that but when Colin plays he often is further inside of Jota rather than outside

Agreed. Dreadful yesterday and no better last week either.
