31 is not old FFS. Defenders often play on to their mid to late 30's. I reckon at some stage he will move inside and play out his career at centre back. No more charging up and down the line required. Sadly probably not for us though. Nice guy good reserve captain.

Reached 150 games last night.

is he going to extend his contract so we think?

Another good outing , one of the oddest things for me this season is regularly people saying he needs a rest , play Fosu , Roerslev etc.
Excellent player imho

I have this theory that the longer you have played football the less you need a rest as your body adjusts to the demands. Only problem is your legs dont move as fast?.

Not sure if this has been posted before but it's a great interview. He doesn't seem to have any concerns re fitness but says he is having to go forward less to allow Henry the freedom to roam..

Really not sure what he & Mbeumo were doing in bot defending that diagonal ball for the Ra-Ra's 2nd. Needed a bit of composure from him at that point & it didn't come. You would have to go back a long way to see him & Rico make two bigger school boy errors than tonight.

Henrik Dalsgaard (Released)

I didn’t see any leadership from him last night, he should have pulled the team together after the first goal and had a go at them to get the bloody ball upfield and defend better

Ball was going over top of him it was for Mbeunmo to take charge and attack it head on.. instead he just stuck a leg out. Rest is history.

Unfair to lay the blame on Henrik, Mbemo, Jensen and Ghoddo need to get their fingers out. The only player who's prepared to do the dirty stuff is Vito and he's only a young boy. Have a word Thomas !!

Fantastic covering challenge at the far post, in the first half and a lovely sly little body-check on Rhodes, in the second half.

Captain Fantastic tonight!!
Really important that he stepped up and drove us forward, with Rico out, and no chance of MBS threatening.
Can he do it again on Saturday??........
He was very good. However, the unnecessary cynical foul that prompted his booking was disappointing.

Really? I thought that was brilliant, we’ve had it done to us time and time again so why not make use of the rules. I wonder if you would be asking why he didn’t make thefoul if that had led to an equaliser

Great game tonight-and some want to drop him?????

Superb tonight but the gentleman in me felt somewhat perturbed when we scored the game changing second goal from the right wing against 10 men whilst their left midfielder was receiving treatment following Henrik's full throttle dark arts orange card hack. Oh well never mind ?

Just need to be careful with him and keep him fresh.

With Henry out we are relying on Dalsgaard even more now as an attacking outlet, we need to make sure he has the legs required each game. Perhaps more importantly, we can’t risk him getting injured.

It's called taking one for the team, one of the lessons learned from Saturday, long may it continue.

Totally agree. It’s about time we showed a bit of street cred. It’s all very well playing nice football and being complimented for it but there are times when we need to show a bit of steel. Well done Henrik. I’ve been quite critical of him in the past but he had a great game tonight.

I wouldn’t say it was ‘unnecessary,’ as others have said it seemed to be part of a concerted effort to stop attacks early before they developed which I’m all for. It was however a little more reckless than you’d like to see- on another day I think an egotistical ref could have taken out a red. Especially if the Wednesday players had made a fuss which surprisingly, they didn’t.

Too old for 2 games in a week...
He's what 30 or 31. In his prime. I was playing Saturdays and Sundays my late 20's with no training. The training was playing the games!

Not only that, he's a pro and he looks after his body better than most of us. Plus, he's a World Cup performer. Some talented sports people get chronic injuries just as they're starting. Dalsgaard is at the other end of the spectrum. Plays like a general and runs like a teen.

it is funny that we (and maybe opponents) have over a long time accepted as conventional wisdom that Henrik is old, slow and needs to be wrapped in cotton wool to avoid being sent to the knackers yard. I’m pretty sure if you trawled back towards the beginning of this thread, (when he was in his 20s!), you’ll get those same comments.

It seems we’ve deliberately had him play more conservatively to enable Henry to play further forward because Henry is lightning fast, not because Henrik is incapable. Even before Rico’s injury, when he was not performing that well and getting pushed back and even quite often being beaten, Henrik was being more attacking.

Possibly our most bizarrely underrated player.

It's quite strange isn't it. He doesn't make the headlines often, but he's a current international who's been an absolutely integral player to us in the Championship. I thought Maxime Colin was an excellent RB and was surprised when we signed Dalsgaard, but the decision has been completely vindicated. He's also a leader, perhaps not the Pontus shouty type, but is clearly passionate and leads by example, which he doesn't get enough recognition for in my opinion.

That said.... his foul last night was definitely reckless. Unintentional, I'm sure, but he could and should have brought down the man and stopped the attack using about half the force.

Has the legs? He is not in a wheelchair, players at his age players are bought, and sold for millions of pounds, Euros or whatever by top clubs all over Europe. By the sound of it he is a fitness fanatic who lives on health food. If we do get promoted it would not surprise me if he signed for another year.

He’s younger than Winston and probably has 3-4 years at the top level ahead of him, particularly if we get back to a more relaxed cycle of games after this season (a game every three days is brutal even on younger players, he might even be more conditioned to it by having been a top player for longer). He’d be fine in the PL next season, maybe longer, if he wanted it. You’re a long time retired as a player.

Henry isn’t in a wheelchair either but wing back is a demanding role, we overplayed him and now he’s out for 2 months.

As for new contract, I could understand if he wants a 2-3 year deal somewhere and we aren’t prepared to offer that.

He may be tempted with a year in the premiership though. The way he plays is not as demanding as Henry, but I understand your point.

I remember going to Blackburn away in Aug 2018 when we lost 1-0 and thinking Dalsgaard was a crap signing overall. He was a bit of a boo boy back then too. Seems a long time ago now.

For a million quid he’s been great value for money.

I think he's definitely blossomed over the last couple of years, his attacking play is so much better and Henry being out has been a bit of a positive for both him and Mbeumo. Whilst he hasn't got the pace of Henry, his crossing is much better and he's quite clever with varying his play, sometimes cutting in to midfield when going forward.. Seems more comfortable in himself too and has stopped berating himself for any little mistake..

Great saving tackle after Winston's missed header last night.....

Has been sent back from International Duty due to an injury.. really hope it's nothing serious as he would be another massive blow.
