Higher or Lower

Do you think we would be in a higher or lower position with the current squad (including injuries) if MA was manager today?

I vote higher:fishing:

don't start this crap either..............

Sod MA, he pi$$ed off................

Next thread please.....................

This'll be closed like a shot................

Probably about the same, MA would have gone apoplectic at some of the performances, dropped half the team, fallen out with the rest and probably walked out when his request for more money from the board was refused.... He's no idiot, he knew he wouldnt have had a chance this season which is why he buggered off...

Higher or Lower

MA wouldn't of signed these crap players that leroy has brought in.

I personally think it is a serious question (OK I asked it myself) but we need a manager who can get good out of crap players.

THIS QUESTION IS TO THE BOARD - WE NEED BOTTLE TO SURVIVE

Take out the bit regarding MA....................... he walked.

Could another manager get this bunch out of the sh*te?

I doubt it. BIG changes need to be made in manager, coach and assistant.
Plus getting rid of several players taking money out of the club, and from what we've put in, as they're not putting any pride or passion into it. they should be on the dole, then lets see if they have any pride.

 he has signed some sh*t players for MK dons and now there on the transfer list

I'm not about to start a slag off thread about MA but listen, he walked because he envisaged the position that we're in. He knew he'd lose the majority of his squad and would be left with the bad eggs and he didn't fancy it. I'll be generous to him and suggest that if stayed me might of attracted one or two better quality players than Leroy has, and his motivational skills might have got us somewhere near mid-table. He is, after all, a better manager that Leroy. However, that wasn't good enough for him which is fair enough.

I don't blame MA for leaving - but I blame him for throwing away such a fantastic position last year when a cool head would have seen us home and dry.

Les, my real question is do we need a manager like LR or MA now, is it guts and determination or flair

G&D will keep us up

Strange one that. I'd rather have MA now but when we needed a cool head last year, we could have done with Leroy. So here's a question - could Leroy have got last year's squad promoted?

No, you cannot get ANYWHERE without motivation. Leroy and Allen are on the different extremes it seems and both then and now we could have done with someone somewhere in between.

Question could have been whether we would be higher/lower with a different manager from the candidate list back in June. Anyone remember who else was considered/interviewed? Do you think we would have been higher/lower due to their different skills, i.e motivation?

Unfortunately when Allen's motivational skills failed he had no other option.

Unfortunately when Allen's motivational skills failed he had no other option.

and when Rosenior's management skills fail...

He is a good coach, poor manager. Like Wally Downes..

(I've supported him till now, but today was worse than Chesterfield imo, we had the absolute piss taken out of us by a below-par Forest side :( )

Higher or Lower

Unfortunately when Allen's motivational skills failed he had no other option.

He got us to two play-off campaigns. That's a whole lot better than Leroy is doing at the moment, and bear in mind that criticism of Martin Allen and the budget came in his second full season at Brentford. We need a motivator and someone who can get our players to perform at 100%. No matter what critics say of Martin Allen, I have no doubt that he would never have let the team capitulate on so many occasions as we have this season.
Having said that, though, he isn't here. Leroy is and the team are playing with little or no confidence. If they were losing unluckily, then I reckon the fans would lay off Leroy. However, we are simply not competing in enough games (especially away from home). This is not good enough for me.

Higher or Lower

we have a poor team who are poorly motivated.

we are fairly obviously going down and not as gallant football playing losers.

we are going down because we have poor players with poor tactics and no motivation.

You could have said "We are Crap" and then put one of these

My guess Leroy will "nail it on the head" again as to why we lost, but what good is that when you fail to do anything about it. He is dire and even the managing basics are absent.

Higher or Lower

The saying goes something like this..........." a good manager can make a bad team 50% better and a bad manager can make a good team 50% worse.

Whether we had/have a good or bad team under Allen or Rosenior is another question altogether. It aint rocket science to see we have lost a lot of quality players

Ultimately, I think there are better options to both of them ,we just have to find someone who can make a team win (at least occasionally......Leroy please note..) and not play the most depressingly turgid stuff in the process (....Martin please note.....) I'm sure there will be plenty of applicants if we can actually afford to change the Management.

Higher or Lower

MA wouldn't of signed these crap players that leroy has brought in.
Scott Fitzgerald, Calum Willock, Steve Claridge, Andy Myers, Ricky Newman, Joe Keenan, Jamie Smith, Sam Tillen, George Bankole, Jamie Lawrence, Richard Pacquette. He also signed Skulason and Brooker, whose attitude and effort have been highly questionable at times this season - though not with Brooker today.

Higher or Lower

Ben May

Don't like Martin Allen, but as has been posted sooooooooooooo many times he did a job, one which Rosenior cannot do, due to lower budgeting and a lack of management skills.

It is up to those clowns who choose the manager to do it right.

HIGHER -

MA would never let the players get away with these sh*t performances, when playing with no heart or passion or desire. MA would go ****in mad and would try and get best of his players and to give 110%.

When MA's teams did play like this, last year, he was unable to do anything about it.

Higher or Lower

So.... MS's team dint play like this for two months.

He was a motivator and players under MA seemed to play with confidence and trust.

I have yet to see this once all season !

MA would never let his players get away with these performances e.g. ( Chesterfield, Oldham, Rotherham )

I think Les' statement applies to your new post too

Our last 17 games under Martin Allen: Won 4 Drew 8 Lost 5

That's one win more and one loss fewer with exactly the same number of draws as the first 17 League games under Leroy.

Of course Allen had Tabby, Turner, Sodje and Owusu to call upon.

Would we be higher or lower now with Allen in charge? My guess is we would be in the same position.

Higher or Lower

I can see where your coming from "Edmundo".

But them games under MA werent lost or drawn becasue of no heart or passion, but to giving away sh*ty goals in the last minute of the games.

I dont care if we lose ( well i obv i do ) but if we lose and we are outplayed by the better team on the day, ok we played our best oh well what can you do, we tried our hardest etc fair play.

BUT if we lose like we have done recently with no heart, no passion, no desire then it pisses me off that we lose and lose the way we did and makes me question the coaches and manager ? Are they doing the right preparation etc.

Never seem to see Leroy get out of his dug-out and if he deos he just stands there. Can you imagine MA at these past games, he would be absolutley fuming shouting and screaming !

Higher or Lower

Not sure why I have developed a pair of inverted commas, "BRENTFORD_TILL_DIE", but I would say that we played without much heart or passion in the closing stages of last season, with the honourable exception of Saint Jay of Tabb. As for the dugout antics of Martin Allen, who really cares about a sideshow like that? Anyway, wasn't Leroy in the stands today as a result of his ban for behaving like, er, Martin Allen, in the Luton game?

Higher or Lower

saying martin allen wouldn't have let the players get away with performances like the ones we have seen is ridiculous. Firstly I can't believe that LR is telling them after the games "well done chaps bit unlucky maybe next time" I am sure he lettin them know what's what. Secondly what would MA do put them all on the transfer list and play the under 15's?? throw them in the river trent and only keep the ones who swam home??
this is a stupid thread this is the real world not What If Land..
what if we had more money would we be higer or lower??
what if we kept our best players from last season higher or lower??
what if we had a new stadium higher or lower??

MA is gone how can talking about him help us now??

Higher or Lower

Leroy was not in the stands today.

He served his last match in the stands last Tuesday.

So you cant comment if Leroy was or wasnt shouting at the players

Higher or Lower

Lower. Allen had lost the dressing room, his tactics were worse then this and he would of lost interest.

Of course there werent any games last season when we didnt show any fight or desire were there? I especially remember the run of games after Swansea away to the end of the season when the team were full of passion and desperately wanting to play for Martin....

I know that Andy Hessenthaler was interviewed.
