When we beat Wrexham 9-0 at GP. What a night that was, every time we attacked we scored a goal, it was like Christmas had come early, anybody else remember the game, about 1963'ish.

Exeter away 82/83 ish( maybe before) 7-1 to the super bees ! took the piss that day, the only annoying thing was that the week before i think we lost at wimbledon 2-1 (they won the league that year )and that day i think we needed two goals to win the old captial goal rush thingy (anyone remember that ?)But in typical Bees style we go and score 7 the week after ! hey-ho !

Yup I remember the Capital Gold rush, I was at Fulham V Leicester City when we beat Exeter (I know I was young adn one of my mates was a Fulham fan, so we'd do Brentford one week and Fulham the next) I couldn't believe it when they said the score, wern't they all first half goals? There was a prize of £5k to the winning club I think.

Highest I've seen is when we beat Camberley 5-0 in the FA Cup in the last championship season.

What a game! I got into the ground just in time to see the first goal go in and I seem to remember Johnnie Brooks scoring at the Royal Oak end with a volley that looked like it was going six foot over the bar until it suddenly dipped.

9.0 what a game Dai ward and we had been playing crap previously.
another to stick out is Southampton 0 Brentford 6 Big Jim Towers scored 4 a tuesday evening about 1959/60

Well, i've seen a Brentford side score TEN... but only in a testimonial!

I think this the only time since the war in any game unless someone can prove me wrong

We played Hailsham on a cold night late 1993, i was expecting the stiffs, but oh no Webby brings out the first team and we won 10-3!

Don't remember much but ex-bee Mick French was the Hailsham manager at the time.

The Exeter game was great day out - only negative was feeeling sorry for Len Bond in goal for Exeter who was defenceless for most of the goals.

The highest aggregate game that I have been to was at Crewe in the 77/78 promotion season - 6 - 4 to the Bees with a Sweetzer hatrick. We also beat them 5-1 at home later in the season - is 16 goals in two league games against the same club / same season any kind of record?

Newport 6-0 FRT 1985

Excellent night, at least three pitch invasions and all with a crowd of 8k!!

Me thinks not - the Royal Oak(God Bless Her) was packed - can't believe there was 10k more against the Liverpool the year before. We must have had a dodgy Chairman at the time - stand up Lange........

Hows about when we beat San Jose Earthquakes 8-2. They had George Best playing and other assorted veterans who totally escape me now. My most vivid memory from standing on New Road was a crunching tackle from Terry Hurlock on Bestie which left him in a crumpled heap just in front of us, followed up by a huge gob from Hurlock straight in Best's hair. No respect that man.

Wasn't there a 13-4 game once? Tranmere - Stockport or something. So that would be 17 plus the number of goals in the return.

I arrived late to this game and was walking up New road as the first goal went in. I thought that in true Brentford style that would be the only goal for the bees that day , oh how wrong i was
biggrin.gif
my clearest memory of this game was the absolute sitter missed by Darren Annon in the second half , at least it didn't matter !

I thought the Cambridge 6-0 game was just as good , particularly Bob Taylor's goal when he seemed to lob the ball about a mile in the air, leaving the keeper flapping about all over the place

6-0 against Cambridge was memorable, Bobby Taylor at his most sublime, Billy Manuel got sent off on his return to GP as I recall and was'nt it 0-0 at half time as well.

I was there - old git that I am.

Mind you I was only 12 / 13 at the time.

About the only thing I remember is saying to my mate at 7 - 0 up, "let's go, there won't be any more goals". Anyway he insisted on staying and of course we got to see them all.

Ah, those were the days........

Peter Shilton was connected with Plymouth then wasn't he? I remember thinking how can such a legend be with this sh*te.

Highest Bees Score

Yep, Shilton was the Plymouth manager - and the Plymouth fans - there were lots of them - were still cheering him at the end. I think Plymouth fans are some of the most loyal I have come accross - have travel huge distances for virtually all their away games but are always well supported even though they are crap year in year out.

Lee Harvey had a great game in that 7 - 0 win

My dad recalls going to Plymouth for his first FA Cup away game in the 70s and having to get a bus across a green or something, anyway apparently the Plymouth boys were headbutting the coaches/buses as they went back after the game

Highest away score i have ever seen the bees involved in was away to Exeter when we won by an amazing 7-1 in the eighties,i could not believe what i was seeing, it seemed we were scoring every time we attacked. Only downer was my mates car got done outside afterwards and we had to drive home with both door windows missing, F...ing farmer boys think there hard smashing up a car.

Highest Bees Score

I have seen the bees scoring seven on a few occassions: Hull 7-2, Windsor and Eton 7-0, Plymouth 7-0.
The highest aggregate over a season was three matches against Barnet when they first joined the league. We played them in the league cup first round and drew 5-5 and Underhill, beating them 3-1 at Griffin Park the following week. Later in the season we lost 3-6 at home in the Autoglass. Three games, and 23 goals.
Barnet's first home game that season they lost 4-7 to Crewe.

im sure when we beat plymouth 7-0 we also beat them 5-1 away on opening day (forster x2) so that was nice anyway

Yeah so that was 13 goals in one season, in response to someone else's query. I remember Blackburn beating someone (Forest?) 7-0 and 5-1 in the same season, and Blackburn also somehow winning 5-1 then losing 5-0 to Coventry one year.

The king of the high aggregates has to in 1999/2000, where Celtic, in 4 league games and one cup game versus Aberdeen, scored 25 goals with one conceded

7-0 and 5-1 at home
5-0 and 6-0 away
2-0 in the League cup Final

My earlier question was meant to ask whether anybody can find a greater aggregate in two league games against the same opposition in one season involving the Bees than 77/78 when we had 16 against Crewe (6-4 away and 5-1 at home).

4-0 Vs Oxford is the highets score I've ever seen

.

I have an old newspaper clipping from the Thirties. It's about when Brentford beat Charlton 8-1 and billy Scott got five. Not bad.

Think the highest Bees win I have seen was 7-0 V Windsor & Eaton in the FA cup, circa 1985?

For aggregate scores two away games were memorable the 4-6 win at Crewe 1977, and the 5-5 draw at Barnet in the equivalent of the LDV.

For highest aggregates the 6-4 win at Crewe, and the 5-5 draw at Barnet in the Freight Rover or equivalent, were both memorable

Two of the most memorable away games would also qualify for the highest aggregate goals scored. Both were evening games as far as the memory recalls and they were a 6-4 win at Crewe in 1977, and a 5-5 draw at Barnet in the F.R. in about 1991.

The 6-4 win at Crewe was on a Saturday. I remember calling home from Crewe station after the game and my brother telling me that the BBC thought that the 'Grandstand' Teleprinter had gone wrong when the score came up.

Is the record stuck HSBeeC?

That 5-5 game was in the League Cup 1st round 1st leg by the way, since it was Barnet's second game since joining the league: they lost 7-4 at home to Crewe on the Saturday before!

For the record this game was Tranmere vs Oldham, on Boxing Day 1935, the return fixture having been the previous day, as was the tradition in those days, and was a 4-1 win for Oldham!

I remember When Saturday Comes doing a feature on high scores at Christmas some years ago, and it was said, despite the gluts of goals that always seemed to occur, the matches themselves were really pretty crap.
