Ian Wright

Always found him to be an entertaining TV presenter but a bit difficult to watch or listen to when he analyses the game. His opinions seem to come from the gut and from a place of emotion rather than any informed or educated opinion.

Wondered what everyone else thinks? Primarily as he speaks a lot about us in his recent podcast (listen here).

Starts off with a semi-derogatory kind of tone. Says he’s “very worried” whether we can maintain current form, intensity etc. and thinks teams might find us out.

By the end though he is very complimentary, and basically says that like Brighton, we’ve got something a little bit extra over recent flash-in-the-pan sides like Sheffield United.

I make you 100% right. He isn’t in my opinion tactically or technically astute but is very honest, talks from the heart and is believable . Rather him than some of them that over think and try and portray themselves as experts when they have been briefed by others

I prefer his opinions and comments to the so-called experts in football theory who are all, incidentally, out of work. Why not have a pundit who has actually played at the top flight in a successful side from a club whose pedigree is second to none. Good luck to him.

I agree and found him a breath of fresh air when he first appeared as a pundit - very excitable, unpredictable and emotional - like a fan. Much more entertaining than the set and repeat cliches that get rolled out for years and say nothing new or insightful.

I like his podcast. I get what you mean about him changing his mind, but that comes from good discussion with the other guests. One thing I like about him is that he knows he talks from the heart, but is happy to be proven wrong/persuaded otherwise.

Do I remember correctly that when Shaun came to us for a spell, his dad didn't even know we existed?

The game has turned into a proper family business for Wrighty, his son, and his grandson.
Three generations ! :hat:

But to be fair SWP is his adopted son so the third generation is not his real grandson either so its not like its genetic.
