Apart from being in a video the club posted earlier of Schade scoring, Thiago big bloke in bright pink bib, then no.....
Easy enough to miss though ...

You won't have to put up with my "negativity" (?) for much longer as I'm gone at the end of July. So no point in changing my approach now!

As far as Thiago is concerned, we can all hope, but I wouldn't be putting a financial bet on him getting more than 20 goals. Good luck to those who do though.
Gone? Is it that serious.

What! We've got a bloke in a bright pink bib playing? I'm all for equal opportunities but at least make him wear the normal kit!

I'll take 20 games !

So we have a £30 million player who misses pretty much an entire season through injury, and if you remember seemed to get the injury in an innocuous way, and others think it's being negative to think that a key factor to our season is whether he can stay fit. Strange indeed.
Some dont like any hint of negativity that's the issue

I trust MB to get in another forward as a replacement for Mbuemo. Brentford are going to be busy over the next 2 weeks and I think we will see at least another 2 come in. Hoping another CB as well and maybe another 6, but think we are okay in that area. Igor passion is non-stop and you have to give the guy a chance. He is definetley good enough from the little I have seen of him and hoping he delivers

It’s not negativity
Saying 1992-3 might have been different if Terry Evans wasn’t injured against Wolves isn’t negativity.
Saying Thiago staying fit is likely to be very inportant for next season isn’t negativity.

Igor Thiago

What’s the point though? Is it just to ease the pain if we fail? Or to get the anxiety over something which we can’t control or even influence off our chests?
We are on an Igor Thiago discussion board, discussing err.... Igor Thiago. If his fitness is not an important part of that, after missing almost his entire first season, what is? If it is not important to the fans (It should be), it is definitely important to the team. Even more, it is important to the well being of the player himself. We all want Igor to succeed, we hope he won't be injured again, saying it is important is not negative. Happy to be told just how it is negative however, and I will wind my neck in.

I hope he stays fit. It’s obvious that he can’t do anything for us if he doesn’t. Worrying that he won’t doesn’t do anything.

What can the club do to help him stay fit? Do we really think it’s practicable for them to go and replace him in anticipation of him getting injured again? It took us the best part of 2 years to buy a first team starting FB after missing Hickey and Henry. Even longer to buy Milambo who roughly seems to offer a skill set around that of JDS.

Agree 100% with everything you say, and no, in my view any purchase of a Wissa replacement should be to guarantee cover and competition for the position, not as a replacement. But that is a different subject. Discussing poor old Igor's injury is not negative, unless someone says they don't expect him to recover. That is being negative, but I don't think anyone has said that, have they?

Yeah, but how many of us were wringing our hands with worry during the pre-season before 1992/93, and discussing (letters to the Middx Chronicle??!!) what would happen if big Tel got injured in the forthcoming season??

We could sign another £30m player who gets injured also. It’s football, but the positive is Thiago is fit at the moment. If Wissa goes then we’ll need to replace but it will be difficult to get a PL proven scorer

A different time
However, I wonder if certain posters on here used to send in dubious film reviews, requests for more strikers and council based anecdotes to the Middlesex Chronicle
Re-Evans I was certainly worried later on!

I have a feeling that Thiago is a player we will still be talking about in 15-20 years time. He will either smash it and in 12 months time we will be looking at him as our version of the OG Ronaldo, who we eventually sell for £100m+ or he will be a Murray Jones level disappointment.

Not putting Igor down - but is his fitness next season any more or less important than any other member of the squad?
It is if the only current alternative to him has one foot out the door….

Probably more important than some to be fair. We are on an Igor Thiago message board though, so it would weird to discuss other players injuries here. The thing with Igor is that he got injured before the season started and he was expected to be out for a few months, but turned out to be nearly the whole season. This season is when he properly returns and we hope, at least I do, that he does well, he looks a beast and as a club, his success will be our success. I think it's important.

Yes, it is because in most other positions there’d be a good alternative. Whereas we once found that when needing a striker we had to use Goode. I’d prefer not to have to convert a CB to a forward whereas we’ve seen several players be capable of adjusting to other roles.

Absolutely yes. Should Wissa go, there is going to be an awful lot of pressure and expectation on Thiago and Schade to get goals. They are the two most likely to get them. Expecting KLP, Nunes and even Damsgaard to weigh in with double figures is for the birds at the moment.

If our record signing is not fully fit, there's no-one else I can see that can come in and do an equivalent job (unless we sign someone else). In most other areas of the pitch, someone can slot in and do a job for a while. Scoring goals in the PL is hard and that's why top notch goalscorers cost more than other positions.

I’m not suggesting it's perfect but, if Thiago is unavailable, then Schade becomes the target man so the question becomes: who replaces Schade on the left who will contribute goals/assists?

I would assume that would be KLP. With his trickery I can see him getting some assists, but based on what I've seem of him up front, just a handful of goals at best. Seems to get a nosebleed when a sight on goal beckons. I'm sure he'd improve on that over time (he's rarely had the chance to get a decent run of games in that position).

As the only out and out CF at the moment quite possibly

Some are starting to panic about him not being seen in a couple of training pictures........................................... When in fact hes been seen in training videos.

Even if he wasn't see in pictures it means nothing.

Thiago has had three significant injuries in the last two years. One at Brugge and two here. He's hardly kicked a ball. How anybody can make any sort of judgement, good or bad, is beyond me.

I for one am excited.

But in the limited run out he did have I thought he did very well against Newcastle

Igor Thiago

Just thinking ? when Thiago plays is it going to change the way we play?
As he seems like a big unit who is good at holding the ball and with his back to goal similar to Toney.
But must say I have enjoyed last season and has been much more productive in terms of goals and chances playing Wissa up top with his pace ball carrying ability runs in behind.
Without the need to play the ball upto a big number 9 by keeping the ball on the floor.
Just my thoughts obviously I could be totally wrong ?????.

I think he's more of any all rounder , quicker than Toney and can run the channels and behind , can also act as target man but I might be wrong !

Igor Thiago

18 goals and 7 assists in his first full season he has been incredible,he fitted in seamlessly and his partnership with Schade was fantastic, they looked like they had played together for years.

Worries at the start of the season have proven to be completely unfounded and here we are having qualified for our first ever European tour :bounce:

A post card from the future.
