I love the notion that scoring goals for #TeamsLikeBrentford is somehow inferior to scoring them for one of the 'big' clubs. The five highest PL scorers other than Igor all play for City, Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea. No one who plays for a 'smaller' club has scored more than half Igor's goals (DCL and Welbeck with 10). It was the same argument with Ivan - utterly ludicrous. Put either IT in the Arsenal, City or other top 6 side and how many goals would they score... Igor's stats are outrageoulsy good:

And look at how much all the others cost in the open market.
IT could walk into all of the Premier League sides and improve them as he is that good.

And he scores for Brazil too.
Well done Igor Thiago.

That's a wonderful 45 yard top corner penalty, tops off another MotM performance. Madness if he isn't their starting forward in the Trump Cup.

Igor Thiago

Any reports on how he played beside the penalty?

Much like the previous game they don’t play a lot through him as that’s not how Brazilians are used to playing.

How many have the top scorers of those "Big clubs" like Sheff Weds and Huddersfield scored this season?

I watched it... and now I'm knackered from the lack of sleep.

He came on with a little over 20 mins left but the various sub windows and water breaks around that period took a lot of momentum out of the game.

He made a few decent runs and seemed to be the only one pressing the Croatians when Brazil were off the ball. That said, he looked slow in transition compared to his attacking teammates and Ancelotti seemed disinterested in testing out his hold up play.

It looked like Endrick wanted to take the pen he'd bought off the ref but, once the area cleared, he was told to give it to Thiago and the crowd booed. Great support.

After scoring the pen, he soon out-muscled a Croatian player to a 2nd ball at around the halfway line, passed to Endrick who then assisted Martinelli for the 3rd.

With the game won, he still found time to do a bit of defensive work coming back to dispossess a Croatian player on the ball.

I don’t think you can overestimate how telling it was that he took the penalty. He was on the pitch with a lot of players that would be regarded as definite squad picks and yet the decision was given to entrust him with the ball. He must have really inspired confidence throughout the squad by the way he has participated in training and on the field. Let’s not forget that when Ivan Toney joined his Saudi club, he had a reputation as one of the world’s best penalty takers if not the best. Yet the first time they got awarded a penalty with him on the field, he wasn’t chosen to take it.

My guess is that he has impressed behind the scenes beyond everybody’s expectations. The Brazilian public will not be saying ‘Igor who’ anywhere near as much as they were before. And it will not be lost on Carlo what an asset it will be having somebody of his composure, demeanour and all round good attitude in the squad. And not to mention the ability he can bring to change things around off the bench if required and possibly as a starter if they decide to tweak their approach. Get the popcorn in for the summer.

You'd make a good hype man :ROFLMAO:

Yes, a couple of times he mentioned the fact he's scored 19 goals in the Premier League this season for his club BRENTFORD!!

I get the feeling there are a lot of egos in the Brazil squad.
Players that think they are a lot better than they are because of the clubs they play for (i can think of 3 instantly) - Igor will be a breath of fresh air, for Carlo, just wanting to play, enjoy himself and make his family, club and country proud.
And he is doing a bloody good job of that.

Brazil struggle in defence, so having Igor in the team to defend set pieces as brilliantly as he does for us is something Carlo should consider

Igor Thiago

Has something that no one else at forward has on that team, the size and strength. Also he is easily the most selfless and a hard worker. He should go even if it is only for the reason that he is so stylistically different from their other forwards.

With that said, it is interesting to see the change up in mentalities on him from a lot of Brazilian fans. They were very very negative to begin with, as they don't know him. After two games of seeing him play, the tide seems to have shifted a bit. Before it was all about how he looks fat and that Neymar should be there. However some of the later comments have been about how he plays like a tank and should be there. Hopefully it works out for him.

Kerching!
Have a bonus Lee Dykes.

Mr Dykes, your son is doing a terrific job here but you're going the wrong way about getting him to shell out for that mobility scooter for you.

Besides we don't have that level of influence here, regardless of how much @Banana does like to go on about his mate, "Matthew".

I was dosing in and out of sleep on the sofa earlier as off work for Easter this week and had this weird kind of nightmare/daydream thing where the big name Brazillian players were asking Thiago who he played for and when he replied with 'Brentford' there was this strange Brazilian mash up version of the "who are they? / exactly" Accrington Stanley advert

Yep its Brentford, not Barcelona. 😆

Any young footballer with half a brain will know how well—and how quickly—Brentford can advance their career (look at Michael Kayode). Imagine how that attraction gets multiplied if Igor goes to the World Cup with Brazil. Fingers well and truly🤞

We probably have one of the best records in developing players for about the last 10 years or so.

I agree. Imagine being represented at national level by a group full of inflated egos…..

He’s proper mental

The kind of lunatic who loves Brentford more than money, until Newcastle offffer him 350 of course

👊👊👊

The population of Brazil is about 214 million - a lot more people now know about Brentford because of Igor.

Quick, ship some Bees shirts out there.

And to think that 13 years ago we were upset about losing to Doncaster Rovers in a League One match!

You’d have been locked away for asserting back then that a Brentford player would lead the Brazilian forward line, and score, and bee playing in the World Cup finals!

That's Samba de Janeiro isn't it?

I prefer Mas Qué Nada by Jorge Ben Jor for a classic Brazilian song associated with football
This is Mas Que Nada! But it's a version by Tamba Trio, not the Jorge Ben original or Sérgio Mendes' version
