This is a good move by Brentford but once again the timing couldnt be more sh*t.
With the riots in Oldham at the moment i wouldnt be suprised if a load of ****ers turn up and start abusing the indian players and fans.

Is it true that the Heston stadium was funded purely with Asian Community money? If so good luck to em - though I can't see why they need it

No, but second division football in general holds absolutely no interest to them (having not been introduced to it by family as young children). The national team of India visiting holds a lot of attraction - and the parents are more likely to allow them out for this than for, say, Bees v Colchester on a tuesday night

Well if we do, the good quality balti pies that we got at the end of the seasons are going to be joined by chicken vindaloo pies, madras, onion bhajis, samosas and other indiand culinary delights!!
Sod the sh*tty caters, lets just open an indian resturant...bound to get more income for the club and will attract the indian community!

Its about time we had more Asians supporting our club and to me the asian support (although minimal) did increase last season.
Hopefully after this game they will attend in greater numbers

The match is now confirmed on the official site with a 7:30 kick off on July 24th.
The reason that the game is kicking off live is that the game will be shown live on Indian TV Before Last season India played 3 games in England that were broadcast to an audience of 210 million .

If it is being shown live in India, 7.30 would seem an odd kick off time. That will be midnight in Calcutta (which I think is one of the hotbeds of football in India- they can get 100k to a game!).

Not at £10 a pop it's not, it really annoys me when they charge this much for a friendly, how many police or stewards do you need for a game like this,
Why not look at it as a loss-leader and get enough new people there who might just think, i'll come back here.

way back (well a couple of months or however long it was) wasnt this match going to help the indian earthquake.... i know its been some time since then but they can probably still use our help, it might also help get a few more fans in (from indian and other communities, as it'd be for a good cause, and hopefully they would return)

I am not having a go at the club for playing this match but there is no way that Asian people will suddenly stop supporting Man Utd and come to Brentford matches and that is just the way it is. I was in Bury last season and the asian who served me in the chippie near the ground said he had never been to Bury in his life and he only lived about 5 minutes walk from the ground. When I asked why he said there is no point as with Man Utd playong just down the road you might as well go and watch good football. My personal opinion is why not concentrate on attracting young white males to the club as you will have a much higher success rate and would be more likey to get fans for life.

I saw two of the India matches on their last tour at Fulham and WBA. Without any real PR, the Fulham game attracted a 7-8,000 crowd with about 3,000 Indian fans, whilst at WBA the crowd was 12,000 with some 10,000 of those supporting India.
With decent PR, it is quite possible to get a 8-10,000 crowd and a great atmosphere.

Wasn't there an India v Bangledesh game staged at Filbert Street that attracted about 2,000, in Leicester, a City full of Asians?
With no disrespect to the odd Asian fan who comes to GP regularly (Fair play) when are people going to learn that Asians are not interested in football? All this crap about attracting minorities and the local community to watch Brentford is a waste of time. Im fed up with watching freebees walk through the turnstiles in their Man Utd tops and even one in a scum shirt last season, whilst we pay through the nose every week. Do they return to the club? No, otherwise we would have 8,000 crowds every week.
If this is a plan to get the Asian members of Hounslow Council on our side then so be it. Use this game to OUR advantage for a change, after all the Asian community doesn't give a f*** about us?
For all the PC bees using the GPG use the other site or are you all mincing about in London as I speak?

Not quite sure what you're on about boney bee, but the game was arranged so that funds can be raised for victims of the earthquake in India. Anyone who has a problem with this is a ****.

Ed, I think he means the general idea of attracting more Asians to BFC wont work. I agree in principal, look at Luton for instance, huge Asian area where the ground is situated, yet you rarely see any Asians in the stands.
Dont get me wrong, encourage them as much as possible, just dont expect much success (sadly).

Ii doesn't really matter whether you think the game should be used to attract Indians to Brentford games in the future, the most obvious benefit is surely a decent payout from a big crowd if the game is marketed properly.

To the extent you can generalise about people in the extremely sweeping way you are (Asians- er, only about 700 million people dismissed in one word), perhaps Asians don't like football in this country because they feel it doesn't particularly like them?
In the Asian subcontinent they regularly get huge crowds to football games (100k+ in Calcutta) and they had rioting in the streets during the World Cup when there was a power cut during a big match not involving their own countries at all (I think it was an Argentina match- not v England). Clearly a fair number do like football.
As a notionally community oriented club, that you lot are always banging on about should be making big efforts to stay close to its local area, it seems odd that people find it so easy to dismiss a large part of the local community from having any interest in Brentford. Perhaps a match like this, which is not making money for Brentford, but raising it for the innocent victims of a terrible natural tragedy, should be a chance to show that Brentford does care. Maybe it won't convert huge numbers of people into becoming Bees fans, but it is better than just saying, let's look for young white men, they like footy and might come along.

Everything you said up until this point in your posting (ie about Man U attracting people in Bury's catchment) applies equally to all ethnic groups. How you go from that basis to conclude with the racist views above I do not know!
Attracting whites and asians (and blacks and yellows and anything else) is not mutually exclusive (unless you object to racially mixed crowds) and so I think we are missing the point - ANYTHING the club does to attract ANY fans REGARDLESS of ethnic origin is a GOOD THING.
