Banana, in some ways I applaud your efforts, but in other ways I think you have too much time on your hands.

Also, I don't think your announcement goes far enough. I've been left a little confused as to what is considered an infantile/juvenile post. Are you talking about the ridiculous alphabet, person above you and one word threads, or are you talking about other threads as well? Let's not forget without some of the childish laughs, Chit Chat will become boring.

I hope you're not on a power trip, but then since you still haven't answered my reply about trying to access Queen Of The South's password, I suspect you are.

As I'm sure you're well aware, the decision on what is and what is not an infantile or juvenile will be made by moderators on a case-by-case basis. Certainly, those threads/posts that seem only to exist to increase post-counts fall into that category. There is no motive to make Chit-Chat less boring or less serious. There was nothing in the announcement that implies that.

I thought the Announcement was clear enough. But you can always rely on Sweepy to require clarification.

I don't think it's that clear what the problem is.

What's sparked this all of a sudden Banana? Fair enough if you want to restrict word games that might use up unnecessary bandwidth,but I can't see that there's been a lot of problems recently with immaturity. Could you name a few specific threads? If it's just down to people wanting more posts, I can't really see that the problem is even a fraction of what it once was, I think Gaz's posts were just a jokey reminder of how things used to be.

The posts don't exist anymore because I spent about an hour this afternoon deleting the offenders. Those who were posting in the above manner know who they are I am sure.

It's not a big issue so let's not get in a big stew about it.

Sweepy, I didn't believe that it was necessary to reply to your PM referred to above. If you wanted one you could have PMed me again. If you simply wanted an acknowledgement you can use the PM tracking feature.

I also think a new late night wild thread is unneccessary.

It's hard to draw a line though isn't it Banana, because one could easily argue that the Alphabet game, beloved of you and Edmundo, very much falls into the category of what you have just outlawed... but then there would be no fun on the gpg.

Seriously though, is there a specific reason for this ban? E.g. the server will fill up too quickly etc.? Or are you just bored of seeing rubbish threads that people reply to for no other reason than to gain an extra post?

The Alphabet Game doesn't fall into the category of "Infantile Posts". Posting lots of messages into a game called "post only once in this thread" would. Posting a sentence with each word in its own message would be "Infantile". Posting a message with just a or 'I agree' would be borderline as to its value as a contribution towards a debate/thread - but is probably another subject. I'm sure most rational people can understand that.

Fair enough. I'm with you on this Banana. It'd be more fun for everyone if people actually took the time to come up with threads or games that were in some way worthwhile and stimulating, rather than some of the stuff of last week.
