Absolutely shocking seeing droves of spolit, entitled fans leaving at 2-0.
I left at 2-0 to avoid the covid. That was a mistake LOL

First time (ish) as we were never going to make it back in a move of Sunday. :sueme:

I wore a mask throughout, arrived late to miss the concourse crowds and fully planned to sit in my seat for 10 - 15 minutes post game to let the crowd get away. As the game played out it was over at 2 nil so thought it a good time to move out and avoid the large crowds at the end. I wouldn't change what I did as it allowed me to get away within a managable crowd.

Yes agree, so many people getting up during the game to eat and drink etc, the football was almost secondary. Must be getting old.
Nope, I’ve found it to have been like that at all the League Cup games this season and I I‘m not that old (41). On the whole, I hate to say it but my experience at all the League Cup games in general this season has been pretty grim.

I really can’t believe how many spend the whole match wandering around getting cups of tea, it drives me insane. Then can’t find their seats when they get back. No interest in the match at all.

The Maids of Honour is just over Kew Bridge. Go there, it’s a lot warmer and you won’t have to put up with the football.

How do all these people get tickets. I've only managed Burnley, Newc and Leeds away. I was entitled with my Taps for Liverpool tried within 2 hrs of allocation and was denied. It's my son's 40th for Crystal Palace and I'm a ST holder. I've approached the club twice for a couple of premium tickets but I'm not holding my breath and between us, my son and I have supported the Bees for 94 years.

The exodus out of the West Stand after their second goal (with 8 mins of football still to be played) was astonishing and the first time I’ve ever seen anything like it at any Brentford game I’ve ever been to.

The bloke who was absolutely off his face and who waltzed into the West Stand with a pint in hand after halftime, who the stewards then took 20 mins to evict, was ridiculous. Especially when he was showing off a Brentford badge he had tattooed on his leg to prove….er, something or other.

I’ve never seen so many unfamiliar faces in the South stand, it was full of tourists and not Chelsea fans
Agree. Woman with 2 kids behind me who clearly were new to watching live. Think the language around them wasn’t for them and didn’t reappear for 2nd half.

Agreed - it was mental. Couldn’t get back up the stairs after a piss !

Head to the Bees tickets Facebook page .. it’s a spin off from Brentford Loyal .. loads of desperate fans trying to unload their unwanted tickets for last nights game ..

i suspect a lot of people questioned there own sanity by attending last night, and when reality of losing hit took a personal decision to get out. As with the choice of attending or not I think on this occasion whatever people did was the right thing

Who in their right mind would want a ticket for a game that’s already been played…
No wonder they’re struggling to shift them.

Thanks, but don't use Facebook.

I stayed until the end, and have only ever left early once before, but I even considered it. Just cold, a game pre-christmas where it's possible you can pick up COVID and have to isolate over Christmas, and I just wasn't as up for it really.

Of course we'll have touristy fans, that was the case in the other cup games as well, but most tourist fans don't leave when the home side is losing 2-0 as they're not as invested in the home team to storm out like that.

Bore off. We were never getting back into that game. I was up to my eyeballs on morphine and glad that my lift helping me could get a quick exit.
Only reason I attended with my injury was because I knew I’d have space and the stand would be quiet with all the scared people on here combined with knowing how difficult it was to get a sell out...
Weird mentality to think sitting in the cold for another 5mins makes you some sort of super fan. Tbh first time I’ve ever left early. Glad I did.
To add, none of the neutrals or potential Chelsea fans in N121 misbehaved or took the piss, saw one kid celebrate and his adults pulled him back down. Plus it was the first game to date that I wasn’t up and down letting people go out for a slash/pizza every five minutes.
Chelsea fans were loudest we’ve had, even though half looked about 15yo.
We’ve been spoilt with Arsenal and Liverpool atmospheres, Griffin Park was more often then not quiet don’t kid yourselves with nostalgia, what’s going to change with a game we struggled to sell.

It is one of the things that most irritates me at football, the amount of people leaving before the final whistle when we are losing. One of the others is the constant slagging off of certain players from minute one. Thankfully I am lucky where I sit every home game. We are supposed to be supporters, win or lose. The atmosphere when we win after games is fantastic and gives me a buzz for days. The least we can do is support the players in defeat.

First time I’ve ever left early from a match and I’ve seen some shocking games and results. My motivation was to get on a quiet, covid free, train before the 1 hour lockdown began. As it was, we had to wait 20 mins for the train and the platform was ridiculously full. Lesson learned,..stay another 10 minutes or spend my usual hour and a bit in the dugout bar.

It's risky as well, bloke behind me left at 1-1 v Watford.
Different bloke at GP left at 2-0 with 10 to go v Millwall in THAT game.

On the flip side, the QPR 2-2, we were the only ones to witness it.

Is there a fire drill?

Only ever left a game early, and that was at the FA Cup tie at Plough Lane in 1975.

Invoking the two goal rule is fine. Some Brentford in the past have travelled hours for a game and just sat in the pub instead!

Is there a fire drill?

These are indeed unusual times. It is up to individuals as to when they arrive and leave during these dificult times. For my part I arrived early and left late; then again I only live a 25 minute walk away.

I always stay to applaud the players off, win or lose. I think they deserve that.
I remember a game at home to Stoke, many moons ago, when we were 4-0 down, with less than ten minutes to go, and the ground was emptying rapidly, but I stayed to the bitter end, in the vain hope that we would score four late goals, and grab a late point.

That's the only game I've left early...

Yep. One chap was up twice in the first half and he missed kick off. I wonder if these people get up that many times at the cinema or theatre

Fair play, that’s your choice. If people want to leave early because they’ve got difficult journeys home then that’s their choice too.

It’s not a ‘new Brentford’ thing though. Plenty of games in league 1 or 2 the ground would be half empty by the final whistle if we were losing.

Mickey Thomas stole the show.
I stood in the paddock while up in the seats behind was a rendition of Delilah that went on for ever.

I remember our end emptying at ht when we played stoke in cardiff. I can also remember plenty of games when we were sh*t when some stayed in the pub. Who cares, personal choice and all that.

Is there a fire drill?

Actually, if I hadn't left two minutes from the end I would've missed seeing that steam train pass under the bridge outside. Seeing as it happened before the final whistle it could count as my champagne moment although probably second to the pass that put Rico away on goal in the first half.

Those days have passed ☹️
Now it seems perfectly acceptable to call any player who dares to make a mistake, a f***ing useless ****. ?

Is there a fire drill?

I turned the telly over (hesgoal stream) after the second goal.
Likewise. I turned it off as soon as the penalty hit the net and if I'd have been there I'd have been out of the ground before they kicked off again. Nothing to do with not supporting the team, it's just that I absolutely hate seeing other clubs celebrating when you know there's no time left to rub their faces in it.

Why would that be? Seems a reasonable point to make. There's normally a big group of former Ealing Roaders behind us and a group of regulars to our left but everyone around us were strangers last night. Nice enough people, but I didn't recognise them. Glad it's given you something to laugh about!

Is there a fire drill?

The bloke who got kicked out of W235, was standing literally directly behind me. He was off his face differently. Brang his pint up and everything and dashed it to the ground after and let out an explosive burp. Just drink inside it’s not that hard man.

Well, firstly it's a 17k stadium, why would you know everyone. Secondly, it was a cup game so ST holders don't always attend and has always been that way. I guess if you throw in covid concerns it's hardly surprising is it. There seemed to be an element of shock and surprise to those posting that they didn't recognise anyone, but it should hardly be unexpected given the above ??‍♂️

I didn't say "everyone", behave now. I just point out that none of the usual 20 or so who usually sit around me were actually there. Reasonable cross-section upon which to base my comments.
