It's official, Ray's gone

Ray's gone to Watford as reserve team boss.

Ron "reluctantly" agreed to let him go.

Ray said: "I'm grateful that Ron has given me the chance to join Watford which I see as an excellent opportunity."

Which players will follow:-
Dobbo / Gavin / Rowlands.
Lew definately made them quality players.

I am not sure I agree,
Gavin has excelled at centre back and that is down to ray knowing his best position, but I would argue that some players have gone backwards over the last two years, namely rowlands, folan, powell, ivar , g graham.LLoyd hasn't improved the part of his game that he lapses, which is making the runs in anticipation rather than making the run after the ball has been played!! . I have seen players that were setting the world alight become very inconsistent and poor, when was the last time rowly had a brilliant game taking on players and scoring power blasters?, about 2 years ago I think!

Good luck to RL, he done well for us, but I always think it is good to embrace change and we need to change something. Our league position has been sh*te for 2 years, we let in 6 goals against 2 relegated sides and only managed a 2.2 draw versus 10 men against another relegated side.I know we gave the youngsters a run out but if the season were 5 games longer we would go down with what is an excellent squad of players!

To be totally honest I think Lewington was over-rated by some Bees fans, I was very disappointed in Ray's leadership skills in the LDV Final and we have only just managed to escape relegation. I would rather have Noades back in charge than Downes but either of them will not attract new season ticket sales or retain the regular season ticket holders. Poor season ticket sales will mean we would have to win the first 10 games of the new season inorder to attract the crowds otherwise I can see us off loading the star players.
We need a name as our next manager and that surely has to be Coppell. Otherwise we are in for a long new season with nothing but relegation and poor crowds to look forward to. So give us some hope Ron and let's do the talking on the pitch.

Why are looking on the negative side, takes some pluses from an eventful season.
m'head Bee- Lew found Gavin to be more effective at the back, got the best out of Dobbo at such a young age and rowly had a few in different games at the end of the season, but overall they were helped by Lew.
Lew wil never make eleven playes in one season become world beaters!

Dobbo won't go will he! I bet his wages are pretty low, AND he has recently signed a contract extension! I reckon we could see the end of Gav, Rowlands, Powell, Evans, Partridge, Owusu, & Marshall though.

Reserve team coach "an excellent opportunity" Ray? You're 'aving a larf!!!

Reserve team manager at a club where everyone from the tea lady to the chairman are pulling in the same direction, ie towards the premiership, has to be better than 1st team manager at a club that may soon be homeless, sells its better players has the fans arguing among themselves and a chairman that don't seem to give a f@*k.

he sounded very condesending saying that.
is he trying to tell us that being MANAGER of Brentford is not as good as 'COACH' at Watford????
are we that insignificant now???

i hope those yellow b@stards have a really sh1t season (but then again i always hope for that) - "w***y w***y w***y Watford"

i reckon some of you will remember that song!!!

Sorry voice, didn't mean it like it sounded. What I meant was it has to be a better working environment if all strands of the club are pulling together in the same direction. Ray, indeed all the clubs staff (as well as the fans) don't really know whats coming next do they? How long did it take Noades to tell Ray he had the job in the first place? The loss of a quality and well respected coach (Bully). The sale of the teams leading scorer, when you know in your heart of hearts that the team you manage has a good chance of making at least the playoffs. Add those points to the stadium uncertainty and reserve team coach at a settled and forward looking club has to be a slightly better proposition. I hated saying that voice, I don't like Watford either.
