Jay Goppingen

Funny old game

You can change your name, but not your habits
Klinsmann's name game

Jurgen Klinsmann is making a comeback in the United States - using a false name.

The former Tottenham and Germany striker, is using the alias Jay Goppingen to turn out for Orange City Blue Stars in California.

Klinsmann, who has just turned 39, said: "I do it just for fun and it keeps me young."

The striker, who has scored five goals in eight games for the college side, took his adopted name from the place of his birth.

"I took the false name because I didn't want a make a big fuss," he added. "However, it is nonsense to talk of me making a professional comeback."

Nevertheless, keep your eyes peeled. When Spurs go through their middle-of-the-season slump, you might just spot a certain J. Goppinggen appearing on the teamsheet to try and save the day.
