Jean Junction Clock

I've tried searching on here but it came up with so many pages of results going back a long way and it would take ages to go through all of it. I hope someone can help.

I saw a tweet with a pic of the Ealing Rd end which says 1960s. The Jean Junction clock is in it and I could be wrong but I could've sworn that clock didn't go up until the 70s. I was very young at the time so my memory could be hazy but I always thought Jean Junction was a 70s business as well. I found a pic in The Big Book of Griffin Park from 1970 where it's definitely not there but the picture is on some American art website as 60s. Just wondered if anyone can recall when I went up.

Sorry if this is the wrong place.

Tweet I've seen says 1980s

Did you read it correct?

Jean Junction Clock

It was definitely there in the 80s.
As a kid i always wondered what Jean Junction was.

Jean Junction Clock

Wasn't it Fullers in the 70s at some point? Maybee I'm misremembering and it was after Jean Junction.

Jean Junction Clock

I thought is was the Fuller's clock originally, later Jean Junction... but that may be my fading memory.

Those red dots behind the goals were def 70’s/80’s. Never saw the point in them!

The Fullers London Pride sign was further towards the Braemar Road stand.

There was also a half-time scoreboard in a similar position.

My earliest true memories start from about 1976 and I'm pretty certain the clock went up after then. I can't remember exactly when, but if I had to guess, I'd have said around 1980, give or take a couple of years either way.

Great memories all. The ever diligent Jonathan Burchill has come up with some great stuff on Twitter and he's posted a pic which fits in with what you say. :sorted:

The clock was put up in 1977 or early 1978, IMO.

There's a picture from Brenford v Millwall played on 31 July 1976 and clock isn't there. (see below). No mention of new clock on ER terrace in the programme, that I can see.

Then there's a picture of ER with a clock in 1978.

I will also add, that particular clock picture - original post and tweet - has Jean Junction with a dark background (Red). The original clock had a light background (White).

Therefore, IMO, this particular picture (original post) is from the mid-1980's. :computer:

I have found it. :)

The "New Clock" was erected in August 1977. :D

A piece from the programme v Wimbledon on 22 August 1977.

It has been kindly presented by Mr Mel Morris of Draydale Holdings Ltd on behalf of "Jean Junction".

I'm pretty sure that there was another advert under the clock apart from Jean Junction.

Anyone else got memories of this?

Great picture that.

Can see the old toilets too.

Is it me or does that terrace look bigger than what we have now?

Maybe wrong but I have always thought today's terrace has been shortened in depth from previous days.

Fullers was a separate sign towards the Braemar Road stand I think.

Where was Jean Junction , was it like Dicky Dirts ?

IIRC it was in town, not Carnaby Street but around there. Like The Ivy Shop in Richmond, they imported directly from the US. I just guess the owner was a Bees fan.

It does look slightly smaller.

The terrace was relaid in the 92 season and was first used for the Fulham 4-0 at HT game with a very limited capacity because the barriers weren't ready. Not sure it was any smaller. Did they cut any out when the roof was put over?

I seem to remember they cut some out for run offs but i may be wrong.
