No doubt there is a reference to him singing, which the papers always went on about and he either made a record or was always going to, someone with a better memory might remind me. or was he in a trio wouldnt suit today he was what is/was known as a crooner
ah those were the days
eff had a chance to score, but kicked it over the bar, one wag in the crowd shouted 'whats the matter Taylor do you want to score them all' Jeff just smiled and turned away.Baffled said:He quit football to become a full-time singer with the Black and White Minstrels, which was a regular show on BBC in those days. He went into opera when the show ended.
A good forward who regularly hit the net.
Just done a google search and looked at some Black and White Minstrel websites, seems it was quite a controversial show!
Unfortunately no mentions of Jeff though![]()
According to the signed photo he wrote a regular column
for the Daily Star. Anyone remember this?
Mate,
As a very young kid it was the most boring but very popular Saturday night prime time viewing like Strictly is now.
Not a whiff of controversy at the time, only now has it become an issue. Only reason for banning is because it was such dross and ghastly song and dance of awful decades of music.
a good show mate....get a life ok...

Sunday night I think. Probably after Songs of Praise and before Dr Finlay's Casebook. You youngsters don't know what a quality prime time lineup looks like !
As a 6 or 7 year old the music and dancing just wasn't my cup of tea but nothing wrong with format and my parents loved it.
An awful, awful programme. Banal, boring and as weird as feck. My parents had no interest in it, but you're right, it was very popular and prime time Saturday evening slot.
I know I was young, but even then I couldn't understand the appeal of white men blacking up. Weird, weird weird!
I agree.
I am more than 10 years younger than KB, though appearances don't tell this tale.
The Black and White Minstrel show was dull.
Streetboy, here is quite an extensive life account; his obituary. http://www.scotsman.com/news/obitua...otballer-opera-singer-music-teacher-1-1495961Can any old Bees give me any details about Jeff Taylor, who played for us in the mid-50s?
Very little about him in the 100 years book.
