Jim Stroud RIP

It is with great sadness I advise my dad Jim Stroud passed away on Sunday 23rd October.
He was just short of his 86th birthday, a season ticket holder in Braemar Road for many years and attended his first match at Griffin Park on Boxing Day 1934 !!
He passed the brentford bug to me as a 5 year old and I too have been a season ticket holder almost the whole time since as well.
He was born in Ealing and grew up in New Malden. He was a mainstay of the Brentford football programme collectors club for many years and a very small shareholder of the club before Mr Benham saved us.
He only managed one home game this season but was up to date on how we are doing.
He succomed to Alzheimer's about 18 months ago and had lung disease but it didn't get him down and the last 2 seasons I would wheel him round in a wheelchair but he could still walk up the stairs before matches to our seats.
I will miss you badly dad not being at my side anymore after 46 years of attending matches with you. But you will be with me in spirit when I'm at Brentford.
Regards
Geoff Stroud

RIP and thoughts with you during a very difficult period, I hope the boys offer you a small crumb of comfort tonight in trying times.

That's a lovely tribute to your dad Geoff! I'll give them an extra shout for Jim tonight!

Jim Stroud RIP

RIP and condolences to his family and friends.

We do seem to be losing many of our pre-war supporters at this time and I hope the Club - and maybe BIAS - are working on plans to maintain continuity of connection at Lionel Road. The Harry Curtis era needs to be clearly apparent to all new fans.

Jim was a gentleman he always had time for a chat with me & Rose about brentford and football in general

My sincerest sympathies to you Geoff. Although grief is never pleasant it does offer a wonderful way of reflecting on a person's life. I hope that you and the family, through your grief, remember the wonderful times you all shared.

Really upset to read this. Jim was a great man. Often used to frequent his house and check on old Brentford football memorabilia he had. Great table tennis player was Jim. Used to go to programme fairs with him and enjoyed bumping into him at games, home and away. Went to Cardiff Millenium stadium together in a coach we hired. I drove. We lost but had a good day out. Sad day indeed this. RIP Jim, I really enjoyed your company and Geoff my heart goes out to you.
Keith.
