Jody Morris

Todays Richmond & Twickenham Times says that Tels passed up the chance to sign him saying he doesnt offer us anything we havent already got. :sorted: Sadly he went on to say he might consider him in the future. :(

Brentford manager Terry Butcher has passed up the chance to sign former Chelsea midfielder Jody Morris, but has not completely ruled it out.

Butcher said: "He trained with us for three or four days recently to get fit, and it enabled us to have a look at him. Nothing materialised because we had priorities in other areas, though if Morris had been better than we had already we would have considered signing him.

"But I might consider him in the future if he is still available."

The 29-year-old Morris, a former England U21 international, made more than 100 appearances for Chelsea, many of them alongside Marcel Desailly, Ruud Gullit and Gianfranco Zola. He gained an FA Cup winners' medal in 2000 as a late substitute for Zola in their 1-0 victory over Aston Villa.

But then came unsuccessful spells with Leeds United, Rotherham United and Millwall, who released him this summer following a fractured cheekbone and a cruciate ligament injury.

Butcher said he was not influenced by the fact Morris had been involved in several controversial incidents, including a driving ban and suspended prison sentence for drink-driving.

The Bees boss added: "We had more pressing matters, with the loans of left-back Grant Basey and goalkeeper Ben Hamer coming to an end.

"We ended our losing streak against Rotherham and have the basis of a team which can help us climb the table."

But Butcher intends to do it without another former Chelsea player, left-back or midfielder Sam Tillen, who has made 80 appearances for the Bees.

Butcher said: "Tillen is no longer in my plans. One or two clubs have shown an interest, but he has been reluctant to go."

Assistant manager Andy Scott added: "This is a different situation to when Matt Heywood looked to be on the way out - that was purely financial.

"Matt showed he was desperate to get back in the side and grabbed his chance with both hands. Now hopefully he can help us turn things round.

"If we can put a run together, promotion is still a possibility. We are only seven points off the play-off places. It is all about confidence and, if we can get on a roll, then we can make up lost ground."

What has happened to Tillen, Why dont he want him?

all the people keep arguing about his driving bans etc, but would you allow someone to support the club, enter the ground and sit beside you? How do you know that the person who may sit in front, behind, or next to you is not a rapist, has driving bans, etc. You have no problem sitting near them.

I think that's nonsense from Scott. If that was the case, why was Heywood frozen out in the pre-season programme when it was obvious his move elsewhere had fallen through?

Right. I've got the hang of this journalism stuff now and thanks for alerting me. I suppose that the legendary proggy one then went something like this:-

Interviewer : "I know that everything is wonderful at BFC 'cos I've been telling everyone that for a long time now but how amazed have you been at the good news that you have come across since you joined the board".

Graham Hall (for it is he) "Erm.......well I've only been there for a matter of days"

Article : Graham Hall is in a daze at all of the good news.

On the field, he made his debut for Chelsea as 17 year old playing alongside the likes of Gianfraco Zola, Gianluca Vialli and Ruud Gullit. He went on to make over 100 appearances for the Blues and received an FA Cup Winners medal in 2000 when he appeared as a late substitute for Zola in a 1-0 win over Aston Villa. He also made seven appearances for the England Under 21s. However, he never established himself as a Chelsea regular and he left to join Leeds United in 2003.

After failing to establish himself at either Leeds or his next club Rotherham United, he finally joined Millwall in the summer of 2004. He began life at the New Den well, making over 70 appearances in the Championship before he suffered two bad injuries - a fractured cheekbone followed by a cruciate ligament injury.

:suspect:

Send Tony "The Plagiariser" Flood an invoice Les. He believes that he's entitled to copy anything because it's on the internet and therefore not copyright.

I think some false information needs to be added in future. "Morris, a keen collector of rare goats ...."

Les, you need to 'plant' some information.

Last week's cracker was when Ronnie Haselhurst, the TV theme composer died and someone edited his Wikipedia entry to include the 'fact' that he had co-written one of the Spice Girl's hits.

This 'fact' was dutifully reported by three national newspapers who' like some local hacks' can't be bothered to do any work for themselves.

You don't have any choice if your sat in the home end at Millwall.....

This is very interesting as it would suggest that Sam Tillens appearance and win bonuses are NOTHING to do with the reason he is no longer in TB's plans.
I heard different!

You dont want to let Tommy Hatcher hear you talk like that lol

Well, what you don't know can't hurt you. The truth is that you don't have a problem sitting next to the undiscovered paedophile yet do have one sitting next to the known drink-driver.

This thread seems to have gone very quiet. Has J.M. been training with BFC and if so, is he likely to appear in the team? At this point of the terrible slide, I would like to see a player with his experience given a chance, even if he can be a bit of a naughty boy off the pitch. Right now I feel that what happens on the pitch is what needs the most urgent attention, if we are to start the long climb out of this mess.

I think he's long gone.
