Joey Keith

He'll be gone at the end of the year.

Didnt he sign a 2-year extension at the start of LR's reign? If he does go then, we might even get £20k on the basis of his appearance for the Football League.

Anyone else think we've signed Jake from Eastenders?

He did work in the Griffin behind the bard in that sh*t Green Street Film as well!

I posted this 5 hours before you!

Not a bad signing. Scored the winner against Fulham last year.

Joey Keith

Completely agree re Hunt - he was never that good for us even if he ran around a lot. His crossing was pony. Went bananas after scoring his goal the other day didn't he.

the one thing Hunt always had was a real desire to play. Eleven little Stephens in our side would keep us up (well 10 and a right big keeper)

Joey Keith

Sounds like he was an asset against Bournmuff and unlucky not to score. Are we allowed to use him against LO next week?

yes, we have signed him, he is our player I believe

Joey Keith

He's gonna be fired up for the Orient game

Obviously, hopefully everybody will though - if not then why are they at this club?

Joey Keith

why didn't he lift the ball after rounding the defender and keeper !!!!

bloody annoying !!

but he is an asset now........played really well, especially after not playing many first team matches. some good inter play and crosses........unlucky not to open the scoring......if only it had gone in..............

Keith gave us what we've been crying out for all season on the left. He's not pacey but as a footballer he's got a few qualities that we've been lacking namely the ability to look comfortable on the ball, not seem like he's going to lose it even when surrounded by the opposition, get out of a tight spot by linking up with others (particularly Leary) and make space for himself both by skill & by twisting/turning. With him in the side we will play good football.

He's already make a difference - it's just a shame he couldnt finish THAT chance

Joey Keith

You Brooker fools;) are in for a treat. A winger who wants the ball and takes people on and can cross and take superb corners. Should have scored yesterday and quiet in the 1st half but what a second half. :sorted:
Let's hope he keeps it going.

Joey Keith

hes a neat and tidy player does all the simple things with ease great performance yesterday from keith hope he can carry it on, shame he couldnt have scored after that mazy little run

Joey Keith

keithy yesterday for me was man of the match hes a great technical player who is a good asset to the squad . He plays and looks like arjen robben quite a bit.

Joey Keith

Was that a shot or cross yesterday? :suspect:

Typical - He produced that just after I slagged him off for being sh*t. lol

Joey Keith

His delivery from corners and free kicks was spot on.
Shipperley 1-0 oh no it wasn't. His general play wasn't up to his usual standards though.

The problem is you can say the same about Brooker. He is good at dead balls, but other than contributes nothing.

Neither of these two is what you need in the hell holes of Div 2.

I haven`t seen him have a good gane at GP, but to be fair he may be blinding on our travels.

Unless he accepts peanuts

LOL - I did the same thing, had just said he was having a poor game, mind pity that doesn't work evey time I mention a players name.....

There lies the problem, Keith was brilliant at Yeovil when he filled in at LB and kept going up and down the wing for 90 minutes and the same at Hudders when Tillen went off rather gayly. His 2nd half performance at Bournemouth was superb and his delivery is so much better than Brooker's IMO. Please don't take this as being patronising as it is a million miles from that but I don't think GPers have seen Ide at his best either. He normally keeps the ball and gives it to one of his own team which is a luxury with our lot and should be offered terms, again IMO.

Hi general play is no more than average League Two, but his corners and free kicks are usually quite good (hit the bar v. Orient) and his corner was scored from yesterday as well as the cross/goal.... However aside from dead -ball situations he doesn't show much - lack of pace sadly..

Reading that above he sounds like a poor mans Beckham :D

Joey Keith

When Keith scored, Kettering Bee turned to me and said 'Oldham came back from two down last week'.

KetteringBee is the biggest "worry guts" I've ever met at a football ground.:sorted:
We have a corner and he's pointing out where they will break from.

yet despite his fretfullness, he retains youth good looks and a full head of hair

Is he on the Botox ? :fishing:

Don't worry! We'll soon coach THAT out of him.... :D

Joey Keith

I like Keith, he has filled a HUGE hole that we had on the left side and has made some good crosses, corners and free kicks, he is the best player we have had on the wing ( of a bad lot ) and yes we could do a lot worse and a lot better but from what he is on and only being offered a contract til the end of the season, he is doing a decent job for us. He has played out of position on many occassions when Fitz has played him at LB. I cannot remember any match where he has played as badly as the likes of KOC, Framo, Tillen etc in games and feel he would be useful for us next season in the basement

Joey Keith

I think he's past it and we can do better for next year. He's been very handy compared with how sh*t our left side has been this year but all his pace has gone and he's looked like he's breathing out of his backside towards the end of matches at times. No thank you, move on.

I agree, he hasn't come cheap either.

I would've thought that he's on an average wage for a 28 year old lower league player. Not exactly breaking the bank for him I don't think.

We're losing 10-15k a week Andy. We are breaking the bank for him.

Is that true? And how much of that is made of the money we're paying for the signings that Fitz has made?

:(

Hard to say. I don't know the pay-offs for Skulsson, Tomlin, Moore etc and to be honest wouldn't put them on here but I don't think that came cheap.

Don't forget the £40k raised via Fighting Chance near enough paid for Shipperley's wages.

Joey Keith

We gambled, it hasnt worked...there is a price to pay !!!

Joey Keith

No need to pay an unfit and past it 28 year old 1st team wages.

Although I've probably got a higher opinion of him than you, I don't disagree that he hasn't been the best. I can't understand the "breaking the bank" bit though. It's safe to assume that he's on about £300 per week more than Alex Rhodes. It's been stated on here that the other left wingers we've tried this year - Tillen, Rhodes, Tomlin - haven't been good enough. However, if that's all the club believes it can afford, we might as well whistle Alex back from Grays and give him a new contract.

Conference wages = conference side = conference crowds and if that's where we're heading, we might as well sell GP as soon as we can and groundshare with Kingstonian.

Joey Keith

Some of the signings have been poor, although Keith at least shows he knows how to pass a ball.
We are losing money each week, but it is not soley down to expensive players. If we had 20 youngsters on on £400 per week and we're losing games still. We would still lose money each week. A smaller budget doesn't mean you will improve your net costs.
You need some experienced players, of which you have to pay them a wage for their age an experience. The buck stops with the manager if they too are crap.
Other income has to be raised and other expenditure other than playing budget has to be cut, because if we continue down the road of cuts cuts and more cuts to the playing budget, then we will be playing Crawley the season after next.

He looked handy in his first few games but he's tailed off and I believe that would get worse over a whole season. There were some comments from an Orient player after we played them that suggested he hadn't been that good for them before he switched. We can get better for cheaper next year, Tillen hasn't worked out but a player like him is a better gamble than a higher paid experienced one who might not last the season.

Oh yes, I noticed in the programme that Accounts assistant has left the club.
Great I thought, that's a saving. Then I read on as its introduced the replacement. What do the accountant and an assistant do to fill their day at Brentford? :fishing:
