That‘s right. When selected we tended to play him at right back or occasionally centre back neither of which really worked

Mostly my view was he was slow, not up to English standard of football, and yes I know he was a Maltese international but
it is a very small island, I saw it as a punt that didn't work out.

I was a relative youngster at the time but remember it the other way round... we weren’t up to his standard. The Martin Peters of Griffin Park, football-wise, though clearly rather different off it ?
