Joining BIAS

BIAS have done really well ensuring tgat next seasons season ticket prices are frozen.

As a former chair, I appreciate how much effort the committee have to put in, listening to fans, understanding thier concerns, forming polices and working with third parties to get results.

The introduction of Direcf Debits has been a long time coming and was probably first requested over ten years ago.

In my opinion the Season Ticket price rise is only a small win and only half the battle. The big issue is the prices that members are being charged, which is about £20 per game more.

Whilst some members may only be Big Game Charlies (and some Season Ticket Holders too, judging by the reported no shows), a lot are really loyal.

Some travel great distances to home games, others work shift patterns, but these fans often did every home and away game when they were not working.

In my opinion, the Match Day prices must be reduced... football should be afoardable for us all. All of us ST should have empathy with our friends and faces that we have seen for years.

BIAS were unhappy with last seasons prices rises and have done so much over the years for the benifit of all Bees fans.

Membership of BIAS is FREE and the more members that BIAS has, the louder their voice becomes and the bigger influence they have.

If everybody who is a member of the GPG was to join BIAS, the Associations membership would probably double, maybe even treble.

Please give your thanks by joining BIAS

Agreed, the members who buy tickets to most games / long term members should not be treated in the same way as your average PL tourist. Free ticket for City was an idea I floated on another thread that, in theory, would be easy to action. I can't see the club being too happy with (albeit comparatively minor) losses to income.
Possibly a higher tier membership package, only available to those with (x)TAPs where they can save £5/£10 on home tickets as a medium?

Thanks @'Ayes B. We are around 40 members short of reaching 2,500 members. That will be a great milestone to reach.

Is there an option to unjoin BIAS? I can't see how that's done.

On the first point; credit to BIAS for pressing the club to freeze prices, but they did not ensure it. BFC delivered that and should get a wee bit of credit for it.

On the second; last year I joined the fastest finger first brigade, and resented the virtual tax of a membership fee, just to apply for a ticket. But a membership so cheap that away fans might have a pop, is less attractive. TAPs may ameliorate this, but not always.

The "tax" was about three quid a game, so the big difference is the season ticket discount. The £20 pound extra could also be presented as a £20 discount. Do we think season ticket holders are getting too big a reduction.

I didn't enjoy paying extra, but we must compete with teams enjoying far bigger budgets. It is tempting to stress the importance of TV money over match revenues, but the latter still matters, and constantly shaving sums here and there add up.

It is a contrast that some manage to demand we cut our prices, while others happily chat about splashing £30m on a player.

It strikes me as strange that away fans pay £10 less than home fans do. I'm sure that season tickets are great value but £40 or £45 for a matchday ticket strikes me as quite expensive (on top of the £40 membership fee, which for me equates to £10 per match).

Well, the only time STH were faced with paying members' prices, there was a thread on here threatening to go on strike and calling anyone who normally paid those prices mugs (I paraphrase) so probably.

May I ask how you know this? Innocent question and all.

For 3000 of us to go to Stamford Bridge and pay £30 while home fans pay a minimum of £75.
Arsenal we pay 26/28 and home fans pay a lot more than that.
I know a Chelsea fan whose only season ticket he could get was 3 grand.
He does get a fair bit for his money i must admit

I am taking the original poster at his word regarding the first part. For the second it reflects the roles of the two parties, particularly as BIAS flags up its independent status.

BIAS set out to represent fans' interest, and if the original poster says they pressed hard for prices to be held, I see no reason to doubt him. But they are not the board running the club. They could not have "Made the decision", only those running the club could make that call.

It’s a trite observation that the decision was ultimately the club board’s. But in addition to the usual channels of dialogue, BIAS wrote individually (politely, professionally and firmly) to each director to make the case for the price freeze. We’re still a poor enough club that despite the PL money being the vast majority of revenue BFC don’t simply dismiss the idea of increasing ticket prices out of hand and need to be persuaded to do so sensitively.

Was trying to find the right thread to put this message, but want to thank BIAS for their assistance today.

The only way I can repay what they do is to make representations to more BIAS members to join. It’s free and as I’ve found out today it’s a phenomenally useful organisation that only gets more useful/empowered with a larger membership base.

Whilst it doesn’t always feel like it “in the moment”, the club generally has its heart in the right place compared to many premier league outfits. However when they do inevitably cock up I think BIAS are a real asset to the fan base. Please use them!!

Thank you
