Did Henderson leave Anfield with good grace or just chase the money ? In my book that decides how you are and should be expected to be treated when returning during the post and prematch rituals. During the match you give 100 per cent to your paymasters on the day if not you disrespect the sport that made you who you are.

He’s not achieved any of that bar an England call up with us though. It’s all very impressive, but his last trophy was over 4 years ago, his last major tournament appearance was 3 and a half years ago. None of that proves he’s “pure quality” right now at nearly 36 years old. He was a fantastic player many years ago, that doesn’t mean he’s a fantastic player at this exact moment in time.
100%, sure a good few on here will lap up his achievements at Lpool to “strengthen” their points though.
OK, ignore his past achievements - if people like Mathew Benham, Phil Giles and their entire BFC team think he was the best player for us this season, well I'll gracefully (and gratefully) agree with them.

Exactly the point. The titles you’re referencing as proof that he’s “pure quality” were all in his prime, but as you say, if he was still that same player in his prime he wouldn’t be playing for us. His titles and major tournament experience shows he was once a great player, but doesn’t exactly prove that right now, at nearly 36 years of age, he’s still that same great player.
I’m not sure there are many who are saying Henderson’s walk off meant that we didn’t qualify for Europe!

Milambo is not a DM or even a CM. If Henderson is in many starting lines up next season then we are in trouble. Look at goals like Wolves 1st where he was a statue that they just ran past with ease. He slows everything down and our best dynamic football (Muff at home, Everton away) he was on the bench.

I’m not saying he is, but he’s a midfielder, an extra body we could have done with allowing different permutations. Henderson has been on bench more than starting and we probably played our best games without Damsgaard starting also. That was possible because we had fewer injuries and depth to squad, which is where my point is Milambo would have been useful addition during the injury period this last 2 months.
I can absolutely understand why he did though. A standing ovation at Anfield as an opposition player is virtually unheard of. Add to that the emotional farewells to two of his pals with whom he shared the peak days of his career - plus the Jota tributes. It was a perfect storm and he is a human being. He came to us to do a job for us and for himself. That arrangement has worked out well for both parties. What happens next will be interesting...
