Just realised we are fast approaching the tenth anniversary of our first New Wembley appearance, against Carlisle Utd, in the JPT final on the 3rd April, with the usual outcome
Remember the day so well from the build up before the game, pre match in the Green Man Pub, and the disappointment (again) at another no show at Wembley.
Ten years on and couldn't imagine the journey our great club and ourselves have been on since, but I am so glad to have witnessed most of it. COYB...

The best thing about promotion out of that league was no longer having to compete in this tournament. Can you imagine Brentford V Fulham U21's as a competitive fixture for us? Jeez...

The worst part before the game was finding out Forster had dropped

On the pitch it was awful.

Toums got sent off.

No shots on target.

Brightest part was Schlupp hitting the post.

I still never gotten over Robbie Neilson playing in that game he was a loanee and at best an average full back.

He didn't deserve to play on merit let alone sentiment

I agree. Given we’ve spent the majority of our recent history competing in that competition, at that level, I don’t want to be accused of ‘forgetting where we come from’ but in this instance, it’s for the best- it’s a complete crock of sh*te.

19 year old loanee Adam Reed started in central midfield as well, replaced by Beano at half time. Beano should've been on from the start.

One to erase from the memory. We had a decent turnout due to new Wembley novelty value, but as usual did'nt turn up on the pitch.

Yep, although second half against Yeovil was the only time we looked to have turned up. 2-0 down by then though.

We were on holiday in Spain for that and found a really out of the way local restaurant that was showing it.

my hangover was too. My worst one was yeovil though. that was after I left a pal's wedding in lake como in the early hours, still sloshed, got a taxi to the airport which was £££££s, I'd bought another flight home early (much to the wife's disgust), met my pals at Victoria station, on the tinnies, got to the ground, remember the first half performance and yeovil going into the lead and having the worst hangover of my life kicking in around half-time and got progressively worse... deep joy.

Another crap Wembley day out! I was on the board at the time. Took Steve Tidy with me as a special guest even though Ken the Copper tried to his level best to stop that in the lead up due to his irrational hatred of Steve (so excuse me if I don’t join in the love-in of Ken on here).

Greg Dyke came bounding over to me at the final whistle, booming “see, see” as he had a prior preference for not so many loan players in the line-up whereas I couldn’t care less if a team of Winnies had played if we had won.

I was the only director to attend the post match club function in the Holiday Inn in Brentford (I think the others had an impromptu hair appointment). As you can imagine it was more like a wake. After a while, on behalf of all the players, Gary Alexander asked if they could leave and that was that.

Watched it in Steve Phillips' bar in Benalmádena (long since closed). The highlight of the day was chatting with the ledge himself, even though his Bees years clearly weren't his fondest football memories. He really did remember every goal he had scored.

I didn't go to this one. It was Mothering Sunday and I drove down to Sussex to see my mum and am glad I did as she died later in the year. Not sorry to have missed this one. A crap performance in a big final, but then we were getting used to it by then. I just hope it will be different one day but our two Wembley appearances since don't fill me with confidence. Different seasons, different squads, different managers - same result.

The usual Wembley debacle but with a touch of Balders Bee farce as well. I managed to convince myself for some unknown reason that it was a 3pm kick off to the extent I didn't even bother checking. Imagine my horror when on match day I discovered it was a 1.30pm kick off at 12.45pm. It was Junior Balders Bee first trip to Wembley as an excited 6 year old and an emergency call was made to Joe's Taxis and an emergency £75 dash from Epsom to Wembley saw us arrive just in time to see us go a goal down.... .

Plenty of huff in the 2nd half and Sam Saunders tried to single handedly take on the entire Carlisle United team but without the Gerrard vs West Ham style success...… we subsided to yet another disappointment. I sat my lad on my knee at full time as the disappointed Bees fans left the Carlisle fans to savour the win and uttered prophetic words of wisdom like "It's Brentford son, you'll get used to it....it's the hope that kills you"......

Thankfully their have been many more high points than low points since .

I must admit it was nice when in the Green man garden after Bliss saying " hello Nick these your family " and daughters saying " do you actually know everyone here "
