Either way this is a very good signing! Nice young player who from the sounds of it has absolutely blistering pace. This also means we won't quite have to rely on Mbeumo for the pace side of things so this will give them both competition and can only help us.

I said yesterday in the closed Kevin Schade thread that as soon as the biro returned from it's scottish bank holiday he'd sign! . A couple of Stuttgart fans I know aren't happy as I believe they were looking at trying to sign him also.

At least VJ27 can help get him settled in.

I don't think there's much to be read into it, but I find it interesting the choice of words about the longer term contract: "expect to make the deal permanent", as opposed to "will make the deal permanent".

That implies a degree of flexibility for unforeseen circumstances perhaps? As I say I don't think there's anything huge in it. However would be an interesting question for Phil Giles about the nature of the deal structure. Have we done deals this way before?

Excited about this one, Phil said about his willingness to work hard and press for the team. He's absolutely rapid, strong on the ball and according to Frank good in the air so perhaps we see him not only as a winger but a Toney replacement? Doesn't come with a crazy goalscoring record but from Frank's comments they seem convinced they can turn him into a goal machine. If we can get all these new attackers fit and firing and Damsgaard fully fit in midfield, we have such a good squad. Hopeful we can get baptiste back fit as well as think he's looked good this season for the 4-3-3. Still gobsmacked that we're signing playeys north of 10-15 million, we really are in dreamland currently!

I read this to mean there are performance/appearance triggers to turn the deal permanent but ones which the club expects him to have no trouble meeting. As KLP/Damsgaard are taking time to win minutes I’d read the word “expect” as implying he’s further up the path to being ready to play and in our line up. That might also link in with the club having an indication on timing of the FA decision on Toney (iirc it is today he was due to respond formally to the allegations).

I'm sure he'll be raw, and we need to be a bit patient, but if you look at options we have in the attacking third, he's the perfect fit. Not just any old body to fill in a position, but genuine pace, decent in the air (apparently), so the likes of Bryan, Keane, and Wissa, are going to step up a notch. 5 decent to excellent attackers....phew.

I sort-of imagine the Club believe there's the potential for a Watkins-type progression. Prove injury-free and get minutes, then start wide attack, then move central. I hope the fans give him time, though!
