For anyone interested here is an article about South Australian (ie the state of which Adelaide is the capital) accents -

Why do South Australians sound different to others Down Under?

There were a lot of English emigrated to the area around Elizabeth (north of Adelaide) in the 1950s and 60s to work in the motor car factories so I had always assumed that was the reason that that part of South Australia had a more English sounding accent.

Nice interview with Brook here. Speaks v well. He's looking like he's really stepped up a level this season, will be interesting to see if he starts to trouble the first team squad...

Scored twice including a very good second in the final game in Cyprus, when playing as a 9.

He is usually a wide forward or a number ten.

Would he be a nailed-on starter at Adelaide? I'm not sure what the standard is like over there other than Daniel Sturridge is playing over there

Yes, good luck to him. But the club has stepped up a few gears since we’ve signed him. Also it was one heck of a step up to make from where he came from.


He’s been one of our best players in the B team, has real quality. V surprised at this

I know Aussies turn up all over the world, but there must be 1 or 2 that get homesick. Probably worse in a pandemic. We’ve all seen how difficult Australia can be in the last few weeks. Decision taken for a ‘timeout’, and easier to be in a ‘bubble’ there, than over here.
I like him, and hope it’s not the end with BFC.

Maybe that's the case. Was disappointing to hear from MacFarlane though that he hasn't yet broken into the first team picture, for me he seems one of the more talented players in the B team but that seems to indicate the club don't feel the same. Hopefully he'll get some good first team minutes in Oz and come back but generally when these things happen it means they're only going one way..

I do not always think talent is enough. If they are not right type players/persons in TF and BR mind, they will not make their debut. Look at Mogensen, Adams and now Brooks who have all been incredible on the B team but never made their debut.

From what I've seen he looks decent, but not at the standard necessary to break into a Premier League squad. Hope it goes well for him in Adelaide.

Perhaps FCM is too close in quality to Brentford to pull this off but I wonder whether it would be optimal to have a Belgian team or something where we can sell high-potential players who we could get more for with more exposure but who wouldn’t be good enough to make it with us

Hm, maybe a Czech contact would be ideal.....

Started in their 3-1 win. Seems they are into the Semi Finals of the A-League play offs.

Doubt we will see Lachlan in a Bees shirt again, but certainly a tidy little player. If we never got promoted he may have broken through.

When i watched a few games in 2011 it was awful. Robbie Fowler played walking football and scored a hat trick.

The first game i watched when i got back to the UK was a conference game and the standard was significantly better!
