Lacrosse
Lacrosse replaces Baseball/American Football and BB as the lead sport in N. America as it returns to the Olympics in 2028! After all it is the oldest sport in N African history, possibly dating back to the 12th Century.
ChessAs no one else has replied to my wishful thinking April fool, may I pose a question? How many other sports were not invented by British/Commonwealth people?
We should go back to the early modern Olympics and have stuff like painting included. And tug of war as the London Fire Brigade has held its title too long and Squid Game showed it could be an interesting sport. What is the difference between a sport and a game? Are the lines blurring? A degree of physicality should be involved in the former, especially for recognition in the Olympic games, and Lacrosse certainly embraces that expectation.

I believe that it’s still going strong in girls’ independent schools.I think your April Fool doesn’t work because the US actually takes Lacrosse surprisingly seriously with televised games and college scholarships while it’s largely died out here.
The death of British Lacrosse is in part down to my old school which had won the national championships for about a decade straight in the early c20th and was encouraged (I think by a Headmasters Conference vote) to stop playing and change to hockey to give everyone else a chance.
Chess is not a sport.Chess
Polo, horse racing, wrestling, archery, athletics, swimming to name a few.As no one else has replied to my wishful thinking April fool, may I pose a question? How many other sports were not invented by British/Commonwealth people?
The key, overwhelming question is what popular (not niche - like polo) *team* sports were invented by non-Britons. I think you’ll find that most popular team sports were invented by us. Which, again, makes our small collection of islands off the coast of NW Europe quite exceptional when it comes to our astonishing and overwhelming impact on the modern world ??Polo, horse racing, wrestling, archery, athletics, swimming to name a few.
