Leeds sinking?

Just had a look at the Premiershit table after tonight's victory for Bolton. Leeds are definitely in a relegation struggle and Peter Reid clearly has his work cut out. £70m in debt, relegation could spell the end, perhaps.

It couldnt happen to a better team

I think Leeds are now right in the battle, they will need to pick up their form or face Division 1.

However I think Fulham might be the team in real trouble. They have a hard run-in and still need another couple of points, which they might not get.

The main thing at the moment is that Bolton, West Ham and Birmingham are picking up points and scoring a few goals. They both might get to 40 points, which means the teams around them will have to do so as well.

I suppose it would prove the old theory about money alone not providing success, but I certainly wouldn't wish bankruptcy on them.

Leeds sinking?

Leeds are certainly in trouble. West Ham and Bolton have been picking up points for the last month and are certainly going upwards. Leeds are plummeting downwards and it will be interesting to see if Reid can stop this.

Normally a new manager has a positive effect as players strive to impress him. However, with Reid unlikely to be around next season, maybe the Leeds players can't be bothered. It certainly looked that way against Liverpool on Sunday.

I read that Reid is being paid an undisclosed amount per game, plus £500,000 to keep them up. At first I thought this was easy money for him, but I'm not so sure now...

However, I'm still hoping Fulham fall faster and end up back in the Nationwide!

:D lol

Relegation and bankruptcy would go hand in hand for Leeds as it would for Fulham. You can't survive with debts of £70 to £100m in the Nationwide. The likes of Leicester, Coventry and Derby with probably less than half that level are not out of the woods yet.

The financial abyss that the Premier League and a few top clubs have led football in this country towards is perhaps about to show itself.

Sadly it will take a club like Leeds going under to make the footballing authorities realise that they are here for the good of the greater number not the greedy few.

Leeds sinking?

Well I hope they go down at the Expense of West Ham!!!

couldn't happen to a better bunch of fans. The only thing to matke it sweeter would be if Ell Tel was their to see it :(

Leeds sinking?

Imagine the 'Friendly' atmosphere IF Leeds go down and Cardiff go up!!!! Two games that I for one would love to miss!!!!!

Makes our £4 million debt look quite good!!!!

Just proves money cant buy you the success!!!!!

An interesting thought. I gather that there is speculation that Tigana may be about to get the tin tack. Oh how I would laugh!

Leeds have the hardest run in, and bolton and west ham have quite good squads and easier fixtures. If Leeds go down I would cack myself laughing!!! I reckon straight down again as well :D

I don't think they will get relegated, but they may be saved by the teams below them doing worse.

Tigana is off at the end of the season, it would probably be better to get someone in now.

The team who have the REALLY hard run-in is Villa, and they only have 35 points, could be a four/five way fight in the last month or so.

Oh! Please make the relegated teams:

Sunderland
Fulham
Leeds United

Sadly West Brom are in too much trouble to get out of relegation; Fulham and Leeds probably have just a couple of points too many so should be save.

still - I can wish!

Oh! and of course Brizzle Rovers to the Conference - big club my a***!

I don't think Leeds have too many points by any means, they are only on 34.
West Ham are on 30, with 7 games to go that is definitely catchable, especially with Leeds playing so badly.

Leeds sinking?

Fulham have too many points I feel. Last spot is between West Ham, Bolton and Leeds. Sunderland and WBA are doomed.

I think you are probably right about Fulham, but if they don't pick up a few more they could drop into trouble.

Don't discount Villa from it yet, nor Birmingham, though they seem to be picking up points.

Leeds sinking?

Tigana not getting a new contract. I just want Fulham to get relegated next season, which I think will happen as well as Leeds if they don't go down. Both the two automatic promotions are good enough to stay up and pompey will spend, the playoff winners will likely go down.

Leeds sinking?

Once Leeds get relegated any talent remaining will have to be sold off to pay the plc.

Should mean we'll get a trip to Elland Road season after next then...;)

Best get me tin-hat ready.......

Not sure about Leicester, they have pretty well much of the side that got relegated before, so think they would definitely struggle. Also if Wolves win play offs they could well be in a stronger position than Leicester to buy.

I think Leicester would struggle again if they came up, but I'd expect Portsmouth to be ok. They have a bit of money to spend and a decent manager who can find good bargains. Leicester have no money and a huge debt to pay off, with a squad that woudl need improvement. Adams would need to do a bloody good job to keep them up.

I forgot about Leicester being in sh*t, so maybe yeah they'd go down.

I think a trip to Derby in two seasons time will be in order, I can't see us going anywhere :D:D:D
