Lest we forget

To keep things in perspective, a reminder that today – 15 April – is the 15th Anniversary of the Hillsborough Disaster.

Rest in Peace.

Lest we forget

Certainly in my mind as I was enjoying the game last Saturday that 96 fans had been crushed to death just below where I was sitting - important to remember, hard to comprehend

Lest we forget

it must never be forgotten

Lest we forget

Cry a tear On Anfield Road
at the Eternal Flame for the young and old
who went to watch their team away
and didn’t come back on that terrible day.
Cry a tear at the back of the Kop
and cry one at the Justice shop
for 96 lives lives lost in vain
who’ll never see the Redmen again.
Cry a tear on the Anfield pitch
but not for the players so pampered and rich.
Cry it for those for whom you laid flowers
In those desperate post-Hillsborough hours.
Cry a tear although you survived
because you’re still a victim even though you’re alive.
Cry a tear in your mind’s eye
and remember how you didn’t wanna die
crushed in that crowd hearing dying moans,
thousands around you yet you felt so alone.
Cry a tear because it’s always there
In your thoughts, your dreams and your nightmares.
Cry a tear because you can.
It doesn’t make you any less of a man.
Cry a tear fifteen years hence
For fragile bodies crushed against a steel bar fence.
Cry a tear for a woman battling on
For the justice she craves for the death of her son.
Cry a tear and remember, this is true,
never forget the 96 because it could have been you.

Lest we forget

Yes I sat in the stands at Leppings lane, and felt quite cold thinking about the loss of life on that day.
God bless them all.

Yes at home - coming out of the ground to hear the news was terrible - never felt an atmosphere like that at any Bees game before or since and hope I never do again.

I think it was the following week that we were away at Sheff Utd and a number of fans left flowers etc. at Hillsborough before the game.

Lest we forget

Yeah, it didn't really cross my mind too much until the final whistle and, as we were leaving, I remembered where we were. :(

Rest in Peace

Lest we forget

Truly awful must never be forgotten. We played Sheff Utd the week after and visited the Leppings Lane make shift shrine. Will never forget it.

I was one of them.

They actually lets me and my mates, who I was travelling with, into the ground and lets us walk right up to what was left of the fence at the Leppings Lane end of the ground, and let me lay one of my Brentford scarves down there.

It was a terribly cold atmosphere inside the stadium, and brought a tear or two to my eyes.

Didn't all games kick off at 3.06 the follwing Saturday as a mark of respect?

I remember that stop at Hillsborough and the fact that there was total silence amongst everyone who got off the coaches to pay their respects.

Lest we forget

It makes me wonder how many off those that sadly died on that day were at our match the previous round.... RIP

Most of them I would have thought.

The whole footballworld and I will never forget this disaster

We went in the pub (the gate?) and spoke to the locals. They said the buckets of cash were left out all day and no one touched them.
