Footballers are inherently single minded and selfish and need to look out for themselves given the shortness of their career.

I can't say that I like the tone of LO's comments and the words "rats" and "sinking ship" do come immediately to mind but from HIS perspective they are entirely reasonable.

Lloyd Owusu

And it's not like Lloydie was to blame - unless you don't believe in his injury. When he did play he gave it everything, unlike his fellow senior pros.

Lloyd Owusu

Would be interesting to know what he was offered by BFC to remain.

Lloyd Owusu

I think he is more interested in his DJing and his girlfriends WAGS boutique than helping the club that gave him an break to get out of the bottom tier :nono:

Lloyd Owusu

and if he is going to bee like that then we dont want him at our club anyway.

Though with his re-occuring injury its not like hes going to be able to continue his career as a footballer for long anyway.

Lloyd Owusu

They may have short careers, but why the hell can they not get a job when the 'retire' from football, even if its a managers job at McDonalds?

We all have to work til were old and grey, why can't they.

Just because they are footballers, doesn't mean they get a little extra in their life and can stop working at 35.

Lloyd Owusu

Sorry Gents, but this is the same lloyd owusu that we were all so happy see return to the club when he did, always clap him when he was seen at the ground ,now you 2 faced bunch of ***** are slagging him off because he has gone again and has been seen in a few night clubs ,so what the guy has been injuried most of the season we knew that he wouldnt be here for the new season and it was a bonus that he actually managed to get a few games under his belt.grow up you bunch of *****

Lloyd Owusu

Laters Lloyd.

Good luck to you wherever you end up.

To be fair to the guy he got crap advice after the injury playing for Ghana, not his fault he was bench warming waiting for an injury to 'heal' that actually needed surgery.

Good memories of Lloyd.

Time to move on.

Lloyd Owusu

Mixed reaction..... I wasn't released....contradition...as yes he was!!

As posted above, obviously players want the best for their careers, however the best part of a season was wasted, bench warming for 100k - there is no way a Championsip club is going to take him on. At the time he joined us, his career had already slipped from the heady heights of Reading and been out for a year....lets pay £20,000k per week   :nono:

He will be very lucky if anyone takes a gamble on him to be honest, as a Manager wanting fresh blood...would you want someone who last scored in April 2006 and had been injured virtually ever since :nono:

Lloyd Owusu

NO hard feelings to Lloyd. He thinks he is better than us and although I disagree I wish him well, I just wonder why he told us he was fixed us elsewhere a few months ago. Was it fact and were they relegated or was it to enhance any bargaining that may have taken on.

I remember being slightly annoyed in 1998/99 when Lloyd said that Brentford was a shop window for him. You rarely find a player who's loyalty to a club entends to playing at a lower level than he is capable of. The only good example I can think of is Steve Bull.

Good luck to Lloyd. He has served the club well.

Lloyd Owusu

It is a shame he went & a shame that he was injured for most of the season, im sure we would not have been relagated had he been playing! I would have kept him on! I presume the club have paid his wages all season while he has been injured & now that he is fit to play you get rid of him! We know he can score goals I would have like to have seen both him & kuffor upfront!
Nevermind, wish him all the very best of luck!

The only good example I can think of is Steve Bull.

If Wolves had stayed in the bottom 2 divisons for any length of time I doubt Bull would have stayed. Simply because Wolves would have needed to cash in. He actually spent most of his career in the top 2 divisions and so don't think you can compare at all.

We are Brentford, not Barcelona. Any player that plays for us is looking for better things.

Lloyd Owusu

Face facts:

He hardly set the world alight on his return to GP when he was fit.

I'm not hugely worried or upset at his departure.

Lloyd Owusu

Why does this quote from The Chronny piss me off?

Lloyd : I wasn't released

Now call me naive but to hear that from a player who we paid the best part of £100k to for doing nothing is something I find a wee bit sickening.

.............I can't say that 'sickening' is the word that I would use - I don't know what is - but I do understand your sentiments......and I believe that it might all have sounded so much better had he not been injured in a 'trial' game - with the carrot of a possible World Cup call up - for his country (who I believe then paid not one cent of his wages whilst he was injured) and was instead able to have played for his club, who might, just might, have achieved promotion with him in the side for the last half-dozen or so games in season 2005/6, which might have resulted in a completely different situation this time last year - better budget, hence no (need for) Leroy, maybe keep Tabb, Turner and Sodje, maybe attract better players than the dross with which BFC were served, so many different things hinged on whether BFC achieved promotion......as it is, it comes over as being ungrateful, and seemingly disregards the support that BFC have given him over the past twelve months or so...... doesn't show him in an altogether good light, I wonder how he will be feeling if he doesn't get himself fixed up at the level at which he feels entitled to play.....

Lets face up to bit of reality please.

Owusu, since his return to GP, has been bleeding the club dry (although not alone in this).
I'd love someone to work out the cost per minute he has cost us!

Division 2 is probably his level anyway.

1 1/2 good seasons with us first time round then basically warmed benches around the country before coming back to us. (Ask Sheff. W. fans what they reckon of him).
Never set the place alight when he did play over the last couple of years and probably wont again at any club higher than League 2.

I wish him well in his future, as on the few occasions i've met him he seems to be a nice guy but i'm glad we are not funding his lifestyle anymore.

Lloyd Owusu

Laters Lloyd! Thanks for the memories, can't remember many, but thanks anyway! :fishing:

QUOTE]

Yep. Held a gun to their heads and kept taking money out.

What a load of pants. Got what he could like any one of us. Got injured and that was that.

Nice fella, not a bad player and I wish him luck. Not a legend, but not to shabby all the same.

Only the silly ones :fishing:

Lloyd could lift a crowd, look back at his introduction this season. We all wanted him to do well and IMO he did better than most give him credit for the season before last but it wasn't a roaring success second time around. Being able to lift a crowd is a major asset though and not many achieve that, even some of my so-called heros from the past couldn't do that.

Lloyd Is A Ledgend.
Ok He Was Injured And Wasnt That Effective In His Frist Year Back
But Hes A Player Who Would Give Nothing But 110% For This Club.

He Lifted The Crowd, When He Came On This Season, Sounded Like We Had Won The League.

He Bascially Won Us Promotion From Division 3 - 98/99 Season
Basically Got Us Into P.Off Final.

He Returned To Were He Belongs. Great Shame He Is Leaving.

The One & Only - Owusu Owusu !
Walking Along, Singing A Song, Walking In A Owusu Wonderland !
West London Is Wondeful - Its Full Off Tits The Fanny And The Owusu !

IMHO opinion i do not see anything wrong with treating a player like a hero while he is at the club then treating them like the scum they are as soon as they leave. I think Owusu was a right bar steward for getting injured and we should sue him for imcompetence. It was all a master plan on his part to play as little as possible at this stage in his career criminal genius if you ask me.... :fishing:

Didn't Bobby Taylor also insist on moving when we last got relegated and he was a similar age? As he then managed to eke out a few more years including getting up to the Premiership (not sure if he actually made a start though) fair enough really.

Perhaps if there isn't any other interest from L1 and higher clubs he would accept a reduced offer from us to stay in the shop window.

We don't want to make a reduced offer. He's 31 this year and injury-prone. Thanks for the memories Lloyd but both parties should move on.

Good post. IMO the problems and anger aimed at Lloyd were simply as a result of the huge expectation on him. He was a sort of cult figure, with the :owusu: and his impact on the team from his first stint. His massive wages and injury were frustrating but shouldn't get in the way of the facts - he always gave his all and scored some important goals for the Bees.
